I work with those who have had enough with addiction running their lives and realize it is time to make a change. It is my belief that you must learn how to live a sober lifestyle in order to address the deeply embedded issues that lie underneath any addiction. Once you've attained sobriety, we can then look at the roots of addiction that often lay in depression or anxiety that drugs, alcohol, and other habits have helped us avoid. Working together, we can heal the underlying issues that cause us to turn towards addiction and learn how to live happy, joyous, and free.

I am most passionate to help entire families impacted by addiction; addicts and "adult children" in recovery seeking to rebuild their lives; persons seeking help in codependent relationships; premarital and marital couples seeking to enrich or restore their marriages; and overall persons who feel "stuck" in life and need assistance finding direction, excitement, and purpose. I have worked in the secular environment for my entire career. However, I am able to provide a biblical perspective for clients who desire such an orientation.

“Where do I go from here?” is a question that every individual has asked themselves at some point in their lives. Challenges, anxiety, trauma, etc. They can all seem chaotic and leave us doubting our own resilience. Our cultures and upbringings define us, cultivating who we are, our very DNA, and the way we connect with others. So, the question remains: “Where do I go from here?” My aspiration for my clients is to serve as the therapeutic bridge that empowers them to take back control and promote positive change for future generations. My name is Erika Arroyave – I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker!

If you're currently dealing with trauma or PTSD, grief or loss, chronic illness or cancer, you may often find yourself overwhelmed at times with emotion: anger, anxiety, fear, sadness, worry. You may feel as if your world's been turned upside-down, and not know what to do. Know immediately that your feelings are perfectly normal! Take a deep breath, and imagine what it would feel like to have someone walk with you through your pain. You might feel lighter, less stressed, less alone and more capable of dealing with life.

My favorite quote says “an arrow cannot be shot forward until it is pulled back”. It teaches us that perspective is so powerful, it may cause you to focus on the setback rather than what you’re being set up for. No matter how big or small your problem is, there is a way to get through it. Through my journey as a therapist I have worked in many settings with clients of all ages and all sorts of problems. The common complaint that all of my clients have had is simple- they want to feel better. I work to understand their story, hear them without judgement and walk alongside their journey to regain hope and achieve their goals.

I believe that counseling is a collaboration between client and therapist. I combine both traditional therapy techniques (CBT, DBT, etc.) with the knowledge that each member brings about themselves to help them create the best rest of their lives. Humor, feedback, support, skill building and education are all used in this collaboration. Warning: I give homework! I use lots of humor in therapy. Some of the issues I am adept at working with are: Pet Loss/Grief, People Loss/Grief, Native American Issues, Menopause, Neurodiversity and Introvert issues, Self Esteem and Confidence, Caregiver issues, Isolation and Loneliness, and much more

CUTTING EDGE THERAPY. It's not you, it's your nervous system!! Many people are unaware that when telling the worst events of your life, your heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, digestion, etc, respond as if it were happening in that moment. We will do it in a very different way and together. Prolonged periods of time in this highly aroused or shutdown state causes our bodies to start to break down and thus results in symptoms. These are all our natural survival states of Fight, Flight , Freeze or Feign Death.
