Currently accepting new clients. Entering therapy is similar to summoning the courage to open an over-flowing closet that has been long ignored. Though daunting, with the right tools and an understanding guide, the task can become a manageable and rewarding experience. As your guide, I can help you shine a light on emotions, experiences, and relationships that you may be afraid to touch due to fear, shame, or uncertainty of how to process them. By utilizing an integrative approach, I help my clients assess and move through their emotional experiences while also applying new skills to help them reach their innermost personal goals.

I draw heavily from attachment theory & somatic work.
Are you a young adult between the ages of 18-30? Are you struggling with anxiety or feeling disconnected from yourself and others? My practice focuses on helping young adult women who experience symptoms such as anxiety, shame, guilt, & interpersonal issues as a result of trauma or chronic stress that has occurred within the context of your family or romantic relationships. This type of trauma, known as developmental or relational trauma, can often leave us feeling confused about our own needs, emotions, & relationships.

I define Somatic Experiencing as an integration of the body and the mind to help clients make sense of their experiences, raise the awareness, learn the skills, heal and grow.
Do you feel stuck? Do you feel like you are on survival mode most if not all the time? Do you prefer an approach that addresses both the body and the mind? I am here with you. Not everyone is the same and not every style of therapy will fit you. I have said yes to all those questions and trained in different modalities. BUT something was still missing because of how I felt in the body was not addressed often. I can understand if you feel the same way. I determined to find that something and believe Somatic Experiencing connects the dots for me and I want to help you.

As a Bilingual Clinical Therapist I have worked with populations such as children, adolescents, couples and families. While I am a trauma specialist (Certified in EMDR & intensively trained in Trauma-Focused CBT), and offer Somatic Therapy (mind/body approaches), it's my goal to help put people at ease when they come into my office.
You're having a hard time. I get it, I understand. And you're going to feel a little better just by taking a next step and reaching out, grabbing hold of a better tomorrow. Grief, trauma, anxiety, adjustment issues and the like can all be handled with awareness, kindness, and even a bit of humor.

Sometimes we become better at seeming to be well, rather than actually being well. Living our fullest lives comes when we are aligned mind, body, and soul. This life of wellness is a delicate balance that can be impacted by life and other circumstances leaving us looking for a change. Therapy doesn't have to be a last resort when we're struggling and feel out of options; perhaps it is just the next step to wellness. Working with a therapist can be helpful in finding and maintaining your balance, to reconnect with your authentic self.

I have attended trainings in Internal Family Systems and Somatic Experiencing.
Are you feeling stuck, unworthy, unmotivated or hopeless? You have goals and you try to move forward, because you know you have a lot to offer, but something always seems to get in the way of your career and your relationships. You feel like you are never enough, like you don’t belong. You wonder how things would be different if you were white, straight, able-bodied or cis-gendered. Every piece of self-help advice you read must be filtered through the lens of being marginalized and having less privilege. You wish someone could understand you. You try to cope, but you find that you just can’t change by willpower alone.

Our trauma-informed approach incorporates sensorimotor art therapy, mindfulness, and somatic exploration.
Art therapy can access the mind, body, and emotions in ways that are distinct from verbal expression alone. At Indigo, we love empowering people to discover and harness their own creativity for healing. Common therapeutic goals at Indigo Art Therapy may include coping with anxiety and stress, managing strong feelings, healing from trauma, improving self-expression and communication, creating emotional awareness and adaptability, developing insight and self-compassion, and nurturing healthy relationships and boundaries. Art skills are not necessary to benefit from art therapy. Progress can happen through scribbles and stick figures.

I use a combination of Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, and Somatic therapy techniques.
Have you experienced something in your past that you feel is holding you back from achieving your full potential? Maybe you have tried to make a change, but always feel stuck or like it's impossible to take a step forward in the direction you want to go. Maybe you're worried about the judgment from others if you were to make a change and start living your life for yourself. Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
