Choosing to pursue therapy is one of the toughest, most courageous, and most valuable decisions an individual can make, and I commend you on taking a step toward becoming the best version of yourself. I believe that each individual’s life story, experience, and perspective is valuable and should be treated with the utmost honor, respect, and love. I also believe that these stories, experiences, and perspectives play a significant role in shaping how we deal with the many challenges that life places in our path. I am confident that with empathy & support, everyone has the ability to become the person who they are meant to be.

Let's be honest, we're all out here just trying our best. Most are no stranger to the stress, pressure, and sky-high expectations of life/careers. Therapy provides a place to reflect, heal, and grow on your terms; this is vital if your everyday environments do not provide this. A few specialities include: Co-dependency, boundary-setting, major life changes, anxiety, self-esteem, identity; I am here to help with it all. I am also passionate about creating safe and affirming spaces for those who identify as LGBTQIA+; providing support to individuals seeking out a self-identified queer therapist. Call to schedule a consultation today!

I also enjoy working with ROCD & codependency to establish healthy relationships.
Are you struggling with a pattern of over-extending yourself? Do you find yourself taking care of others, sometimes at your own expense? Have you noticed a not-so-secret desire for perfectionism lurking behind some of your choices? Would others describe you as "ultra-independent"? Do you often struggle with saying "no" and with stopping the worrying and planning? Have you noticed often feeling tired, irritable, burned out, and possibly resentful? How about frequent headaches, stomach issues, and body aches? Would you say all of this places a strain on your mood, relationships, work, and health?

Welcome! When we grow up with narcissistic parents, we are creative at finding ways to avoid their criticism, rejection or abandonment. These solutions become our symptoms in adult life. Maybe you feel anxious, don’t know what you need, what you feel or who you are. Maybe you have a relentless inner critic, self-doubt or rumination on the past or future. Maybe you find yourself constantly busy, unable to rest. Maybe you can't stop taking care of others at your own detriment. Maybe you feel guilty asserting yourself, fear being alone, or fear getting close to others. Maybe you lie or manipulate to get your needs met.

Hi, I’m Claire, a licensed clinical social worker serving the states of FL and NJ. My goal as your therapist is to provide a safe space to openly explore barriers that can prevent you from maintaining lasting joy in your life. I help adults who have experienced relational or developmental trauma understand how the past shows up in the present — through anxiety, self-doubt, or guilt. Inner beliefs, past experiences, and unhealthy relationships are often other central issues we face in learning to live as our whole selves, fully accepted and fully loved. My mission is to help my clients find wholeness and know their inherent worth.

Healing can begin when you have space to tell the truth about what hurts, what shaped you, and what is no longer working. My approach is rooted in a deconstructed, decolonized, anti-racist, and pro-matriarchy lens, meaning I do not view your pain as something to pathologize in isolation. I believe many struggles are shaped by trauma, family roles, oppression, disconnection, and the survival strategies learned in order to make it through. With compassion, honesty, humor, and care, I offer a space where you can explore patterns, reconnect with yourself, and move toward a life that feels more aligned, peaceful, and fully your own.

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
