My ideal client is someone who’s tired of carrying everything alone — anxiety that won’t quiet down, old trauma that still shows up, relationship patterns that feel stuck, or emotions that hit out of nowhere. They want clarity, stability, and real connection. They want to feel like themselves again. They’re not looking for perfection — just a safe place to land, make sense of things, & finally move forward with support that feels steady and real.

In life we frequently encounter obstacles between where we are and what we want to achieve. These obstacles can manifest in the form of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, or unresolved trauma. Gaining a better understanding of who we are is an important step in creating a sense of personal fulfillment in all aspects of our lives. I work with individuals to gain insight into the influence of not only past events, but also current patterns of beliefs, with a goal of reconciling past hurts, healing past trauma, and breaking the cycle of unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and reactions.

Are you exhausted in a way that rest doesn't fix? Do you feel like you've spent your whole life holding it together — showing up for everyone around you while quietly running on empty? Oak Haven Therapy is a telehealth practice for women across Florida who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and finally stop just surviving. Many of the women I work with learned early to be capable, self-sufficient, and strong. They built full lives. And they've been carrying a quiet ache for a long time — a sense that something important has gone unattended, that a part of them never quite got what she needed.

To the rest of the world you are a high functioning, successful professional appearing to have it all together. Underneath it all, you are feeling empty, overwhelmed, anxious, and burnt out. You can't find time to do the things you love. You're the sort of person who is deeply curious about why you are the way you are. You've done therapy in the past and haven't gotten the positive life changes you desired. You are frustrated that some of the hard things you've been through in the past are showing back up in your life now and you are now ready to release the anxiety from your mind and body and embrace a life filled with joy.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
