My experience includes working with trauma, substance use and addictions, interpersonal concerns, couples, and neuropsychology.
Reaching out is often the toughest step and it is very important (and can be rewarding) to find the right fit! Each individual has their own unique story and experiences and therefore deserving of an individualized approach to therapy. The therapeutic relationship should foster one's personal journey to self exploration and growth. My goal is to help you find your best fit and support you in your personal growth, healing, and self-empowering journey. My approach is often described as supportive, warm, empowering, challenging (when you need it), and humorous.

I help adults navigate substance use, sexual shame, anxiety, and the not-so-everyday struggles that don’t always have a name.
I work with people who are done pretending they’re fine. Maybe you're numbing out with sex, substances, or perfectionism. Maybe you're holding it together on the outside while falling apart inside. I don’t do sugarcoated therapy—I do real, raw, and human. If you're ready to face the messy stuff—shame, burnout, identity, all of it—I'm here for the unfiltered version of you. Let’s drop the mask and do something that actually works.

I am passionate about working with clients dealing with substance use issues, trauma, mood disorders like anxiety and depression, and a variety of other concerns.
Do you feel unsatisfied with where you find yourself at this time in your life? Are there patterns keeping you stuck or stagnant that you feel compelled to break? Or do you find yourself struggling to make it through each day while carrying the weight of something you've had to hold on your own for too long? For many of us, it can be overwhelming to make the types of changes needed to shift our relationships with ourselves and those around us in a more positive way.

I specialize in providing evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, for individuals with OCD, anxiety and problematic substance use.
I help individuals who are feeling stuck or disconnected explore what's getting in the way, and create a life that they find meaningful and fulfilling. I do this using evidence based methods that are tailored to the person's specific values, preferences, and needs. I believe that identifying your strengths and what drives you is as important as pinpointing problem areas. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free atmosphere so you can connect with your purpose, your most authentic self, and in turn, with others in your life.

Through tele-counseling (video conferencing), I can be a non-judgmental "sounding board" to determine where you need to be in your path toward health and wellness.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
