You function. You meet the deadline, hold the relationship together, perform at the level expected of you—and underneath, something's running on empty. You may feel like you're never quite enough, like your high standards are the only thing keeping you safe, like rest has to be earned and stillness feels dangerous. I work with high-functioning people whose competence has quietly become the thing they hide behind. The perfectionism driving the achievement is the same perfectionism that won't let you feel okay. We work on both—the part that's exhausted, and the part that's afraid to stop.

Hi, I’m Brooke. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with teens, adults, and couples as they navigate life transitions, relationships, and personal growth. Many of my clients are high-achieving, insightful, and driven, yet at times feel stuck, disconnected, unsure of their next step, or think therapy is not for them. Others see me because their usual coping skills aren’t working anymore, and deep down, you know something has to change.

Hi, thanks for stopping by!
The founding principles I have based my professional practice on are: empathy, respect, non-judgement and self-awareness. Very well acquainted personally and professionally with Anxiety, I have developed a specialty in this area. My approach to Anxiety and Mental Health in general, is one of "working with" rather than "fighting against". I have found it effective to start therapy by focusing on where the client is at on any given moment, and together working our way to where the client wants to be.

Do you ever feel like you’re trying your best, but it still doesn’t feel like enough? Maybe anxiety keeps you on edge, your confidence feels shaky, or emotions seem harder to manage than they should. Relationships, school, or work might feel overwhelming, and you’re tired of second-guessing yourself. You don’t just want advice, you want to understand yourself better, feel more steady, and build the confidence to handle what life throws your way.

The past can't be changed and you're not the same person today - that's reality!
So stop trying to please the wrong people who end up expecting - rather than appreciating and respecting you.
And create boundaries to deal with people who are loyal only because they want to control and manipulate you - but don't let your boundaries push the wrong people away who really care.
And most importantly become clear about your priorities; about what's best for you.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
