Parents and caregivers often reach out when their child or adolescent feels overwhelmed by emotions or behaviors that seem hard to manage alone. Anxiety, mood changes, anger, depression, trauma responses, difficulty with transitions, and school or social stress can disrupt daily life and family relationships. These challenges can leave families feeling uncertain, exhausted, and searching for clarity. My ideal clients are families seeking understanding, evidence-based support, and practical tools to help their child regulate emotions, build resilience, and thrive developmentally. With the right guidance, meaningful growth and lasting

Many of my clients feel overwhelmed by their emotions, relationships, or life transitions. They may struggle with anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, past relationship wounds, or difficulty setting boundaries. Some feel “stuck” in repeating patterns — giving too much, people-pleasing, or losing themselves in others. They want peace in their mind, clarity in their decisions, and healthier connections. Most are not broken — they are exhausted from coping alone and want to better understand themselves, regulate emotions, and feel more secure in who they are and the life they are building.

I utilize Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics ("NMT"), an attachment and brain-based neurodevelopmental paradigm that organizes information to help figure out your child's needs. I am uniquely one of only two providers in the city of San Francisco able to utilize NMT. This is particularly helpful when you or your child has experienced trauma.

You might struggle to pay attention or concentrate, make recurrent mistakes, forget events or conversations, misplace things, have trouble finding words, feel less mentally sharp, or think slower. You might wonder what's wrong as you no longer feel yourself. You could be worried about dementia, ADHD, autism, or wonder if a past head injury, chemotherapy, or a medical condition such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, or Multiple Sclerosis could have impacted your mental ability. Seeking a psychological or neuropsychological evaluation could empower you with the insight and clarity you crave, giving you a sense of control and confidence.

It can be hard to get up day after day and fight through the modern world alone. We are living in a fast paced world where interpersonal issues, depression, anxiety, and fears seem to be at the forefront of so many of our lives. It might not seem like it, but having someone for support through it all can make a difference.

How effective is treatment for learning disabilities?
When initiated early and tailored to a child’s specific needs, learning disability treatment can be quite effective at helping a child cope with their disability, though its exact efficacy may depend on the severity of symptoms and whether comorbid disorders exist. Less is known about treatment initiated in adulthood, but it is certainly possible that an adult with a learning disability will see some improvement—or at the very least, identify workarounds and accommodations that could make symptoms less burdensome in day-to-day life.

When should someone seek treatment for learning disabilities?
It’s best to seek treatment as early as possible. Because learning disabilities often go unnoticed until a child starts school, or even until they’re a few years along, regular check-ins with teachers and doctors can help parents determine whether children are meeting milestones and keeping up with peers or whether an evaluation for learning disabilities may be warranted. And although earlier is always better, it’s never too late to be evaluated for learning disabilities and to seek treatment.

What happens if learning disabilities are left untreated?
Undiagnosed and untreated learning disabilities can be a source of significant frustration and shame for a child, who may feel that their challenges stem from a lack of intelligence or willpower. Such feelings can trigger low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety, which may push a child toward risky behaviors, including substance use. In adulthood, untreated learning disabilities can interfere with career success, and lingering feelings of self-doubt and shame can negatively affect someone’s mental health.

Are there medications for learning disabilities?
Currently, there are no medications designed to treat specific learning disabilities such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia. However, someone with a learning disability may be prescribed medication for a comorbid condition, such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, which may have positive downstream effects on their learning disability; for example, a child with both ADHD and dyslexia may find that they’re better able to focus on their reading exercises after being prescribed a stimulant medication.
