A significant portion of my work is with adult professionals who are experiencing turmoil related to marital, family or work stress.
As a licensed psychologist, I can help you become aware of your obstacles and move through them. Personal growth often requires recovering from past hurt and learning how to behave differently. This is a process that requires a trusting, nonjudgmental relationship. In treatment, my overarching goal is to provide a warm and supportive environment for you to explore your inner self and make lasting change. Although the prospect of change can feel daunting, most people find therapy to be tremendously helpful. Often the process requires setting new boundaries and prioritizing the self in the face of demanding schedules.

Our goal is to provide you with a thorough sleep assessment and sleep plan that is tailored to meet your family and your child's needs.
We specialize in helping families with sleep concerns about their children. This may be a child who is brand new, and you'd like to establish healthy sleep routines before children can really regulate their sleep, or it might be a child who has chronic difficulties falling asleep, staying asleep or both. Either way, we've been through this with many families whose children have other factors that make sleep difficult like disruptive behaviors that make it hard to transition to sleep, or neurodevelopmental diagnoses that make it harder to have consistent high-quality sleep, like ADHD, autism, developmental delays, etc.

In addition to a Masters in Family Therapy , I have received training in psychodynamic and object relations-focused therapy.
The primary focus of my therapy is on the impact that relationships have on our well-being. It is my philosophy that our interpersonal relationships, past and present, determine our sense of self, of who we think we are. Depression, anxiety, addiction, and relationship issues are some symptoms that are often correlated with ruptures in connections. Life changes, such as losses in careers, relationship status, and other curveballs (the pandemic) can exacerbate our way of being.

I work with a variety of individuals with issues ranging from depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance dependence, family conflict, marital issues, peer relational issues, oppression, racism, trauma and PTSD.
If you could change 3 things about yourself, what would they be and how committed are you to making those changes? We all have areas in our lives that need attention. While many of us admit to our struggles, only a few of us are bold and courageous enough to do the work. And even when we have the courage, sometimes it’s difficult for us to even imagine a fully satisfying life. Especially when we feel hopeless and out of options. Living life as a winner is an adventure. An adventure that often requires guidance and a little bit of therapeutic support. That’s where you and I meet. I’m here to help you harness the power within you!

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
