I have worked with individuals and
couples
in private practice, in addition to customizing counseling retreats in Nicaragua.
It is my belief that each individual has a unique path that leads to healing, self-discovery and growth. As human beings, our life experiences, relationships and beliefs are varied, and as a therapist I honor these differences. I believe in the power of therapy as a means to heal through pain, but also in exploring greater meaning in one's life and relationships. I believe we can all benefit from therapy and gain valuable perspective about who we are and how we became that way. We can’t run away from the tough stuff.. Pain and suffering are a part of our human condition and can also be a huge opportunity for growth.

Are you having problems in a
relationship
? Frustrated because of the challenges trying to understand one another? A loved one? A parent? A coworker? A friend? Maybe behavioral challenges with a child or trouble connecting with your son or daughter? No matter how young or old you are, unresolved conflict that remains in the heart builds up over time and deeply affects your thought process and behavior towards others. Therapy is a process that requires examining your heart, transparency, openness, honesty, work, and will. If you are willing to commit to the process, you will see progress.

Welcome! I am a Mental Health Counselor since 2020 and am pursuing my license in the state of Florida. I help individuals and
couples
have better relationships with themselves, each other, and others. I believe that relationships are essential and there are relationships out there for everyone whether it’s lifelong, romantic, temporary, friendly, professionally, platonic, etc., and the best ones can appear in your life when you least expect it. “In relationships, it’s important to accept that as much as someone may love and accept you, they are allowed to have negative thoughts and emotions towards you, too!”

As a licensed psychologist, I can help you become aware of your obstacles and move through them. Personal growth often requires recovering from past hurt and learning how to behave differently. This is a process that requires a trusting, nonjudgmental
relationship
. In treatment, my overarching goal is to provide a warm and supportive environment for you to explore your inner self and make lasting change. Although the prospect of change can feel daunting, most people find therapy to be tremendously helpful. Often the process requires setting new boundaries and prioritizing the self in the face of demanding schedules.

I believe in a holistic, collaborative approach, in which the development of a meaningful patient/therapist
relationship
is essential in change.
Seeking therapy is a big step and may seem daunting at first. However, it can help you set goals and achieve self-acceptance, as well as learn ways to navigate stressful moments, such as trauma and abuse, difficulties in relationships, school or career challenges, and major life transitions. When experiencing depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem, talking about your thoughts and feelings with a supportive person can be very healing, and I am here to listen and provide encouragement and guidance.

Another speciality of mine is providing
couples
therapy.
I am most passionate about working with professionals who feel like they are “not good enough” or who worry about living up to others’ expectations. We can work together to help you learn to love yourself for who you are, and not for what you accomplish. Typical clients of mine are women that are dealing with life transitions, which can include a variety of topics such as breakups, career challenges, insecurity, attachment issues, friendship issues, anxiety/depression, and just general "I don't know what I'm doing with my life". I help my clients gain more self-compassion and confidence.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
