Deciding to look for a therapist let alone beginning therapy can be a daunting task for many. We’re told that our mental health isn’t a priority, that we shouldn’t be weak and that we should ‘stop being sad’ or ‘get over it’ with such great advice from family and friends alike no wonder our issues and stresses seem to only get worse. More often than not we seek therapy because the people in our lives refuse to go to therapy. If you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma or have thought to yourself that it is time that I took care of my mental health, then you are not alone.

Many of my clients feel overwhelmed by their emotions, relationships, or life transitions. They may struggle with anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, past relationship wounds, or difficulty setting boundaries. Some feel “stuck” in repeating patterns — giving too much, people-pleasing, or losing themselves in others. They want peace in their mind, clarity in their decisions, and healthier connections. Most are not broken — they are exhausted from coping alone and want to better understand themselves, regulate emotions, and feel more secure in who they are and the life they are building.

With over a decade of experience as a Registered Art Therapist, I help women slow down and listen to their inner world through art-making, somatic awareness, and compassionate self-inquiry.
The women I work with are often the ones who seem to “have it all together.” They’re capable, insightful, high-achieving and deeply caring. But on the inside, there’s often exhaustion, self-doubt, or a sense of being disconnected. They’ve spent years meeting expectations, achieving, and caring for others, but they’ve lost touch with their own creative spark and inner peace. Beneath the surface, they long to feel more alive, authentic, and at ease.

You may have already tried the usual fixes—books, podcasts, meditation apps, even therapy that stayed on the surface—yet something still feels unresolved. I work with people who are ready for a deeper kind of healing. My approach isn’t about temporary coping; it’s about going to the root of your story so that real and lasting change can happen.

I believe that true emotional healing comes through holistically tending to the body, mind and spirit. I offer full range psychotherapy services that I combine with several Somatic or body-based techniques. As a registered Yoga Teacher, I have been known to incorporate meditation, breathing or physical postures in my sessions. The research shows that trauma, grief and the after effects of some of our experiences are stored in our bodies. What better way to heal or release them from our bodies than to intentionally use body exercises to move this harmful trauma energy out for good. I work with new mothers, children and families.

My approach is using a combination of Creative Art therapy, Play therapy, Imago Therapy, Compassionate Inquiry and Person Centered Therapy.
My ideal client would be someone who needs to be heard, understood, given lots of healing space, empathy and compassion. Their needs and goals would be to understand their triggers, realize where they stem from and as a result analyze their core beliefs that came out as a result of their trauma. In this process I will work with the client to help them notice their responsibilities in their own situations and recognize their victories thus far which will start their healing process. This process and work will assist my clients to implement their solutions in their current situations.

You live most of your life inside your head. Make sure it's a nice place to be. Have you been in therapy for a long time and feel like you're not getting much out of it? Or maybe you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, but don’t know where to turn for real support? If any of that sounds like you, I believe you’re in the right place. I specialize in trauma and personal development through short-term, focused therapy. Most of my clients work with me for just 3 to 6 months, once a week—and by the end, they feel ready to move forward on their own. My clients at the end: "I feel at peace in my own mind and admire who I am now.”

How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
