I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy to help you find solutions to overcome the challenges you face.
You’ve gotten the feedback that you need to take care of yourself and you agree. You've even researched some coping and meditation skills to practice. Unfortunately, you still feel emotionally stuck at a place where neither you nor your relationships are functioning at their best. You've come to the conclusion that what you've been doing thus far is not getting you to where you want to be, so you've decided you are ready to try something different. Hi, I'm Bianca and I'm glad you're here. I work with adults who are looking to focus on improving their quality of life and move forward towards positive change.

However, it can help you set goals and achieve self-acceptance, as well as learn ways to navigate stressful moments, such as trauma and abuse, difficulties in relationships, school or career challenges, and major life transitions. When experiencing depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem, talking about your thoughts and feelings with a supportive person can be very healing, and I am here to listen and provide encouragement and guidance.

As far as most people know you have your "life together." But deep down you feel stuck in a routine that feels overwhelming. You want to take the next step in your career or perhaps you want to ask an acquaintance out on a date but the fear of change, failure and self-doubt are holding you back. You have brilliant ideas that you want to share with others but you hesitate to act or speak because you are tormented by thoughts of "I'm not good enough." When you reach out to your friends, your colleagues, or your partner you feel unheard or misunderstood.

I am a couples and individual therapist that works from a psychodynamic/relational lens, while also incorporating IFS, Humanistic and ACT.
My goal as a clinician is to provide safety and assurance as you navigate the journey of emotional healing. I encourage you to bring your whole self into the room - the parts you’re proud of, and the parts you prefer to ignore. There is no need to "have it all figured out." All I ask is that you remain open and curious to the known and unknown parts of yourself. Through this process, you will begin to better understand yourself and live a life worth living.

My approach to therapy integrates Interpersonal Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with mindfulness.
Sometimes the way you relate to yourself and others no longer aligns with who you truly are, your values or how you envisioned your life. You may feel disconnected from yourself and others. You may feel anxious or misunderstood, and start to question your worth or love. To cope, you wear a mask to hide parts of yourself, which creates feelings of tension within yourself and with others. What if you lived your life according to your values while accepting and expressing your genuine self? I create a judgement free, safe therapeutic space where you can explore, understand and find your authentic self.

It's time to get out of your head and back into your life! Using different approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I can help you overcome anxiety and depression by learning effective and easy to learn skills to manage your emotions, and get unstuck from the thoughts and feelings plaguing your life.
SLAP! You've been slapped by reality! It might even feel more like a kick or a punch. And however this happened, boy does it suck! And now, it's like you have this gap between the life that you want and where you actually are. It's like you can see the way life can be, and yet it's like you're stuck in your own head and you find yourself moving farther away from what you want. You find yourself doing things you'd rather not do and just losing the joy you once felt.

Throughout our lives, we carry within us the voices, the gaze, acceptance or disapproval, the expectations, and the praise or criticism of those who have raised us and occupied our lives. Therapy can help us discover and clarify these powerful experiences and grow in our understanding of how they motivate us, giving us freedom to make more authentic decisions in our daily lives. I view therapy as an opportunity to heal, receive support, solve problems, improve relationships, and escape problems and patterns that seem to reappear over time.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
