Big feelings can be challenging for little kids and even more demanding for the grown-ups trying to help them. If your child (ages 3 - 12) is struggling with anxiety, meltdowns, social challenges, sensory sensitivities, or hearing loss, you’re in the right place. I help kids feel more confident, calm, and connected, and help grown-ups feel less overwhelmed and more supported. As a mom myself, I get how challenging parenting can be. I also know the relief that comes when your child starts to thrive emotionally, make friends more easily, and manage their big feelings in healthier ways.

Does life ever feel like scattered pieces you can’t quite put together? Many of us hide behind masks to avoid being noticed, while secretly longing to be seen. I create a safe, compassionate space where we can acknowledge the pain that often goes unspoken, & explore how to live more authentically. Clients have affectionately called me the “Death Lady” because I welcome conversations about grief, mortality, & the feelings behind not wanting to exist—topics most avoid, but which often hold the key to healing and growth. My practice is rooted in decolonized principles, centering culture, identity, and the systems that shape us.

I believe healing begins when we allow others to bear witness to our untold stories. My desire in the counseling room is to create a safe space for clients to show up with their stories, no matter how scary or painful, beautiful and broken. Through kind and curious engagement, clients can begin to make sense of their story, its impact on the present, and journey towards wholeness.

You spend your days caring for everyone else, but somewhere along the way, you stopped caring for yourself. You keep pushing through exhaustion, telling yourself you'll rest later, while guilt makes saying "no" feel impossible. Maybe you've become the one everyone depends on, yet you feel anxious, overwhelmed, and disconnected from yourself. You wonder why you're so irritable, emotionally drained, or why the career you once loved now feels unsustainable. If you're a high-achieving woman struggling with burnout, perfectionism, or people-pleasing, you don't have to navigate this alone.

Let's be honest: finding a therapist that's a good fit can be really hard. I work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages. Whether it's adolescents navigating a world that can feel overwhelming, adults just plain going through it, or older adults trying to figure out what comes next. My clients come in carrying all kinds of challenges: relationship stress, identity questions, life transitions, and everything in between. One thing they have in common is a readiness to show up honestly and do something different. I also offer coaching for those seeking intentional growth outside of traditional therapy.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

What are the advantages of seeing a female therapist?
Many people - not just women - prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. Women who see a female therapist may also feel freer to discuss challenges that are closely tied to gender, such as life transitions including motherhood or menopause. Some clients who instinctively feel more comfortable disclosing to women may find it easier to broach sensitive subjects with a female therapist. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Is therapy different for men and women?
Therapy can be different for men and women insofar as gender plays a role in the challenges an individual faces and the events in life an individual has experienced. Women often face different expectations from their families, friends, and society than men do. In some cases, women might feel most comfortable expressing themselves differently from how men do. Talking about one's feelings and emotions is a critical part of most therapies, and some women might find it comes more naturally when talking to a female therapist. Ultimately, though, therapeutic treatment should be tailored to the individual's specific needs.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK - even encouraged! - to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
