Secular therapy for individuals recovering from religious trauma, cult experiences, or existential crises offers a space for healing without imposing religious or spiritual frameworks.
At Anchor Life Clinic, we help you discover how to truly focus in ways that allow your body to experience freedom, creativity, and a sense of spaciousness. Through the anchoring process, we guide you toward four key intentions: 1) Slowing down those repetitive thoughts that keep you stuck, 2) Easing the grip of mental patterns that no longer serve you, 3) Bringing your attention fully to the present moment, and 4) Shifting your focus to unlock your creative potential. Anchoring gives you a sense of purpose that nurtures awareness and opens the door to real change.

I have had the honor of working with many individuals and families who have experienced trauma and have witnessed their healing.
I work with individuals and families who have experienced trauma, whether from a single event or a series of distressing experiences. Trauma often disrupts daily life in various ways. Sometimes the impact is more noticeable, such as avoiding places associated with the trauma, while at other times it is more subtle, like persistent feelings of unease, difficulty focusing, or challenges in relationships. Many people affected by trauma hope to forget these painful experiences and move forward, seeking healing and resolution.

I approach counseling with a trauma-informed perspective and the fundamental belief that we are all whole individuals - each of us unique; equally deserving of love, understanding, and compassion; and capable of making positive changes to achieve well-being, contentment, and meaningful connection. While there are many factors that may interrupt your ability to live life fully, my goal is to help you identify, understand, and resolve your own unique life stressors.

Life is too short to surrender to bad relationships, hold grudges, let trauma control us, or be anxious/angry all the time.
Hello, I'm Ally, & I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Unlike traditional therapy, where it might feel like a one-sided conversation, I assure you that I'm as real as it gets! I value the power of connection and seek to experience our journey together as real people. I work hand in hand with you to identify your desires & empower you to make positive changes in your life. Taking the first step towards seeking help can be challenging, so I use an approach that is compassionate, direct, & non-judgmental.

Together, we’ll tackle anxiety, trauma and depression with practical tools to manage emotions, break free from stuck patterns, and reclaim your joy.
You’ve been hit hard by life, and it’s left you feeling stuck, like you’ve been slapped, kicked, or even punched by reality. Now, you’re staring at a growing gap between the life you want and where you are. You can see what life could be, but it feels like you’re trapped in your own head, spiraling further away from your goals. The things you used to enjoy don’t bring you the same happiness anymore, and you find yourself caught in patterns of behavior you wish you could break. You’re craving a change, but it feels like every step forward pulls you two steps back.

My therapeutic training is concentrated in trauma and women's issues as a result of many years experience working with sexual assault survivors at the Women's Center of Jacksonville.
“Awareness is all about restoring your freedom to choose what you want instead of what your past imposes on you.” Deepak Chopra. Choosing a therapist is probably the most important part of your therapy experience as research indicates the client-therapist relationship creates the environment and foundation for change to be possible.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
