I work with the caregiver and child together, providing feedback in the moment to improve interactions, lending to a warmer
parent
-child relationship.
Life can be complicated and overwhelming as we juggle its many responsibilities, changes, and unexpected turns. Many of us struggle with feelings of worry, sadness, anger, and frustration, due to interpersonal stressors or trauma and loss. Parents may also struggle with managing a child's behaviors and emotions, despite trying everything they know of to help them. Reaching out for support can feel intimidating, so taking that first step is truly courageous. Seeking therapy for yourself and/or a child is a journey that will lead to progress and personal growth.

It takes courage to be vulnerable and open oneself to a stranger. Even more so to recognize the need for a safe space and a listening ear. The memories of the past, priorities of the present, and obligations of the future can seem like impossible mountains to climb. As a counselor, I will walk with you on your journey over the boulders of life, whether you’re seeking to reach the summit or come down from the mountain. In my life, I’ve had a variety of positive and negative experiences as a student, veteran, facilitator, and

coaching and collaborating with parents to help their children in any way I can.
It can take a tremendous amount of courage to start therapy and not everyone considering therapy has trauma or some big event they can't handle. Regardless if you're in here because you are struggling, grieving, wanting to balance self-care, or simply seeking an outside perspective, it is my job to provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental place for you to do that. Each individual and situation is unique, and being able to meet the individual where they are at is very important. Just being able to share in a safe space, and/or gain another perspective can have a tremendous impact. I look forward to meeting you!

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
