Male Therapists in Jacksonville, FL
Therapy is a space to slow down and ask the deeper questions. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns - relationships that don't feel fulfilling, anxiety about meaning or direction, or a quiet (sometimes loud) sense that life isn't lining up with who they really are. I work with individuals and couples who want to explore these concerns with honesty, curiosity, and compassion.
My approach is rooted in existential therapy, which means we look beyond symptom management to the bigger themes shaping your life: identity, freedom, responsibility, connection, and purpose.

I work with individuals and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and the impact of trauma, shame, or difficult past experiences. Many feel stuck in patterns they can’t break, like overthinking, emotional distance, or repeated conflict. Together, we slow things down, understand what’s driving these patterns, and work toward more clarity, stability, and meaningful change.

Most people seeking counseling, first and foremost want to be heard. We live in a high stress world and many of us struggle with past trauma, relationship issues and feeling overstressed and overburdened. They want to be understood and learn how to effectively problem solve as well as seek deeper healing from past hurts in many instances.

My ideal client is someone navigating a significant life transition or feeling weighed down by the "heavy fog" of complex trauma, substance use, or chronic anxiety. They are often individuals who have faced systemic challenges or deep-seated family dynamics and are now looking for more than just a quick fix; they need a safe harbor to process their past. They want to break cycles—whether that’s the cycle of addiction, the grip of OCD, or the shadow of domestic violence—because they are ready to reclaim their sense of self and build a future rooted in resilience and personal autonomy.

Life can be hard at times. Trust me, I get it. Navigating our interpersonal relationships can be difficult. Whether it is challenges in our romantic relationships, managing our children’s behavior concerns, or establishing healthy boundaries with our friends and family – It can be tough. Struggles in relationships can lead to depression or anxiety, self-doubt, or lack of confidence. Often we know that we want a change, but be unsure how to achieve that change.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
