Using nature-based techniques, body-based awareness, and
attachment-based
modalities, we’ll work on uncovering and processing those long-term stressors, emotions, and limiting beliefs that have kept you struck in chronic cycles of stress & unhappiness.
Always feeling fatigued, maybe you have unexplained pain in your lower back/hips or neck/shoulders, using substances to help cope with the happenings of the day. Numbed feelings or extreme feelings but never really anything in between. Relationship issues, parenting guilt, work stress, and zero self-care routine. You try to keep it together by faking it but let’s face it –you’re exhausted. You’re trying to get out of the cycle but you just can’t…and you’re starting to think, “who am I and what’s the point of all of this?” Queue the depression, anxiety, worsening ADHD and overall existential crisis!

Everyone needs support at some point in life. Whether it's trauma, substances, depression, anxiety, life transitions, difficult relationships or general confusion surrounding your role in life, you do not have to take on these challenges alone. At times we need someone to help us focus on our strengths when problems and our emotions threaten to overwhelm us.

I believe relationships to be essential to how we develop into ourselves and extend ourselves to have a positive impact in our work, families, and communities. I think that many people seek therapy to unlock the love, hope, and dignity we all have available to us, and which sometimes become inaccessible or obscured by our fears and past hurts. I am interested in understanding and exploring your concerns, and finding ways to address them together in a safe and secure healing relationship.

As a dating therapist, I help people create a new road map for finding healthy love by learning to lead with their truest self. That all-consuming worry from thinking something is wrong with you that makes relationships SO hard keeps you up at night. While you’ve often thought maybe you're just meant to be single, you know that’s not what you really want. You’ve started seeing some patterns surface from past relationships and you’re either giving more love than you’re getting…or if they’re into you, you’re just not into them.

One of the most profound determinants of how we experience our lives is how we feel about ourselves–our sense of worthiness. The story (our narrative) we tell ourselves is reinforced for better, or for worse. The health of our relationship, the one with ourselves, often dictates the health of our relationship with others. We all have the innate capacity to grow and change, to be resilient in the face of challenges, and to be empowered to change patterns of behavior and relationship that no longer serve us.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
