I utilize evidence-based and integrative psychotherapy approaches including CBT ( Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to resolve painful emotional trauma, and Psychoeducation.
The best gift you can give yourself and your loved ones is your own healing. At some point, we all are challenged by psychological stress and overwhelming life events. A lack of support, unhealed trauma, or emotional wounds can bring on strong feelings of anger, irritability, anxiety, depression, or mood swings. It may seem difficult to reach out for help, but counseling and therapy can play a beneficial role by providing insight and self-awareness. At Thriving Minds, you will get professional and personalized care for successful long-term recovery.

Please note that I am out of the office until September 26, 2022 and unavailable to respond to messages. "Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity." -Pema Chodron. From this place of compassion, I embrace a collaborative approach in therapy to help you address current life challenges, explore lifelong patterns, and/or develop areas for personal growth. I see adolescents and adults.

Effective therapy, in my view, moves forward only when you, the patient, do not feel judged, talked down to or told what to do. It is only in this atmosphere of mutual respect and regard that you will surface and examine your issues in ways that give you insight to the "why's" of the choices you've made in the past, your responses to life's events, and options you might choose in the future. There are many different methods I may use depending on what seems most promising given your goals for therapy.

I employ a variety of EMDR, cognitive behavioral, journaling, art, poetry, mindfulness, and bibliotherapy techniques based upon your presenting concerns and personal interests; we will work together to help you achieve your individual goals, a sense of peace, and well-being.
I approach counseling with the fundamental belief that we are all whole individuals - each of us unique; equally deserving of love, understanding, and compassion; and capable of making positive changes to achieve wellness, contentment, and meaningful connection. While there are many factors that may interrupt your ability to live life fully, my goal is to help you identify, understand, and resolve your own unique life stressors.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
Cognitive-behavioral therapy stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. The therapist assists the client in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying his or her thinking. The therapist then helps the client modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework assignments.
