The definition of wellness cannot be written without centering the inextricable ties between body, mind, and community. Within this unique system, there occurs a dance of influence that only serves to highlight how deeply linked and capable of impact each is on the other. It is with this awareness and a knowledge of the irreplaceable role of relationship in healing that I seek to ally with my clients. Some of my areas of focus are attachment, trauma, family systems, adoption/foster care, anxiety, depression, identity development, parenting (yourself and your children), self awareness and self esteem building.

Clients that have said I am exactly what they have been searching for are adults and couples who look “fine” but feel exhausted, on edge, stuck, or alone inside. They come in for trauma healing, couples conflict and disconnection, recovery from narcissistic abuse or betrayal, high-functioning adult ADHD overwhelm, and burnout from carrying too much. You may be overthinking, walking on eggshells, shutting down, snapping, or doubting yourself. My team and I use a warm, trauma-informed, evidence-based approach (EMDR, attachment work, skills) to calm the nervous system, rebuild trust, strengthen boundaries, and create real change.

Currently accepting new clients! I know life can be really challenging at times. We start by trying to figure it out on our own, but sometimes feel stuck and don't see how things can get better. Many people reach out to their friends and family for support, which is a good start. But sometimes even they aren’t equipped to give us the help we need, or maybe we don’t feel comfortable to talk about what we’re going through with them.

I specialize in working with preteens, teens, adults, and families, particularly those who are autistic/ADHD/gifted.
Are you someone who's struggling with symptoms related to ADHD or autism, like impulsivity, social anxiety, sensory issues, or distractibility? Do you find it hard to connect with others? Were you told that you had unlimited potential and feel like you've not lived up to that, especially with hobbies you showed great skill at? Were you a high-achiever in academics or athletics? If you identify as a man, are you struggling with romantic relationships, masculinity, self-esteem, or body image issues?

The best gift you can give yourself and your loved ones is your own healing. At some point, we all are challenged by psychological stress and overwhelming life events. A lack of support, unhealed trauma, or emotional wounds can bring on strong feelings of anger, irritability, anxiety, depression, or mood swings. It may seem difficult to reach out for help, but counseling and therapy can play a beneficial role by providing insight and self-awareness. At Thriving Minds, you will get professional and personalized care for successful long-term recovery.

I work collaboratively with adults struggling from depression, trauma, and/or anxiety. Feelings of hopelessness, knowing that you are all alone, and being terrified that your life has no purpose. It takes everything in you to get out of bed in the mornings only to feel like your life is not even worth it. Fear of loosing yourself and all those who once cared about you. I get it. I understand how awful it is right now. I can help take you somewhere else.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
