Hello! There are times in life where we may find ourselves struggling with current stressors or are experiencing challenges coping with wounds from the past. While seemingly functioning in the day-to-day routines of work, school, home, and within relationships, it becomes increasingly difficult or sometimes even impossible to manage.

Hi there! I would describe my therapeutic care to be grounded in compassion, empathy, and respect. As a therapist, I work with folks who have immigrated and focus primarily on acculturation issues and first-generation experiences. I view individuals through a humanistic, and multicultural lens, recognizing the unique experiences and backgrounds that shape their lives. My therapeutic foundation is rooted in narrative and mindfulness techniques, allowing you to share your own story and cultivate self-awareness.

I work with men, women, students, and couples. My master's focus was in mental health and trauma, my PhD internship focused on community mental health. I treat anxiety and stress, along with trauma disorders using EMDR. I can help clients with a wide range of issues. My approach to therapy is client centered. I treat the whole person, not just a symptom profile of the person. Results from my work include symptom reduction and clients feeling more confident and focused. Clients also report not feeling so burdened internally, thus freeing them to be more alive and present, thus increasing quality of life experience,

Throughout life, we face life changes, identity and personal crises, losses, and possible disconnection with ourselves and with others. When we begin to explore these changes in a safe and supportive space, we may begin to authentically express our needs and desires, while also creating and maintaining healthy boundaries for ourselves. Creating a life of greater joy and abundance is achieved through honest and open communication, reflection, and a deeper relationship with ourselves and with others.

Human beings are storytellers. We weave stories from our understanding of our own lives and the lives of those around us. As our minds compose the story it is possible for us to lose track of the plot. Occasionally we find ourselves believing that we are a supporting character in our own lives. You are meant to be the protagonist of your own story. I believe that you are meant to live a life of unique purpose, and that you are worthy of dignity and respect. Counseling can be the place where we recalibrate our thinking, and strengthen the parts of ourselves we keep hidden and safe. Sometimes we need help, and that is only human.

My approach to psychotherapy is highly relational. I believe that most of our distress in life, often in the form of anxiety, depression, or uncontrolled anger, arises from unresolved conflicts in our important relationships, past and present, and that psychotherapy works by providing a new relationship-a supportive, empathic one in a which person can explore these important interpersonal connections, come to understand them in new ways, and change them. I focus the dialogue on a person's significant relationships, past and current, and on the feelings that one has about oneself and the important people in one's life.

We will start our sessions by getting to know each other so I can learn all about all of your personal goals, hopes, dreams, and desired mental health outcomes. We will collaborate together to evaluate any limiting beliefs that have not been serving you well and develop ways for you to struggle less with the thoughts and emotions that have been holding you back from the things you most want in life. Once we identify and address your personal goals, I will arm you with plenty of strategies and techniques to practice between sessions and to take with you so you can lead a more peaceful, productive, and fulfilling life.

I appreciate how difficult the decision can be to engage in therapy and believe in the power of having a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore the challenges life often brings. My areas of clinical expertise include crisis and trauma work. As a therapist, I am committed to being genuine and authentic with my clients. I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clinical issues including grief, relational problems, self-injury, suicide, depression, anxiety, suicide loss, trauma, abuse, and other issues that can create disconnection to oneself and others.

So much is uncertain right now in life - we're waiting in a limbo that feels endless. It's hard to know what to do with all the emotions swirling around in our brains. With everything going on in our lives, and the world right now, it's even more important to develop coping skills and have an appropriate outlet to process experiences and "empty out" our heads, sort through the jumble of thoughts, and make sense of it all. We tend to view our troubling thoughts as embarrassing and scary, and talking through them makes them much more manageable.

I am a first-generation Caribbean-American counselor. I believe that change happens with time. It’s often unavoidable but happens best in places of safety and community. In my practice, I aim to create a space that supports all my clients in becoming the version of themselves they desire while moving at a pace that feels comfortable. When working with me, clients can expect to be able to bring in all the different parts of their identity and the freedom to show up in their most authentic selves free of judgment.

Ever struggle with over thinking, or feeling disconnected from yourself or the world around you? Let's work together to create a life sourced from wholeness. I guide others to deepen their connection with self, soul and spirit to gain new awareness and develop a lifestyle that promotes inner-peace and empowerment to live a more satisfying and purpose-driven life. Welcome! I believe our best work is created in a collaborative spirit; this is why I choose to coach over therapy. We each have personal strengths. Let’s utilize yours to stabilize your weaknesses while we work through your present transition. Life comes at us fast. Sometimes, we need someone beside us to remind us we do have what we need inside, if we know where to look. Often times it’s just a matter of finding a bit of clarity and setting goals. In our work together we’ll strive to ensure you reach success in practicing new skills and attain new heights. It’s time to define that life desired. What is your True North?
