I appreciate how difficult the decision can be to engage in therapy and believe in the power of having a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore the challenges life often brings. My areas of clinical expertise include crisis and trauma work. As a therapist, I am committed to being genuine and authentic with my clients. I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clinical issues including grief, relational problems, self-injury, suicide, depression, anxiety, suicide loss, trauma, abuse, and other issues that can create disconnection to oneself and others.

Welcome to my counseling practice. I know that choosing to begin or re-enter counseling can be a difficult or intimidating decision. My goal is to create a collaborative and safe therapeutic relationship where we can work towards your healing and wellness. I believe that distress - however it manifests - is a response to adversity. In working with people I find that the important questions to ask are "What have you been through?" Or, "What have you experienced?" Not, "What is wrong with you?"

Hello and welcome. My name is Jaclyne Smith and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work from a trauma informed perspective to help clients gain insight and control over their symptoms and behaviors. I treat maladaptive coping behaviors, such as addiction or binge eating, as symptoms of underlying emotional content that is too painful to tolerate on our own. My goal is to create a space where clients learn how to acknowledge and tolerate the intolerable, and gain the insight and self compassion necessary to regain control of their lives and their story.

Dr. Lew Fabrick has over 44 years experience guiding individuals,couples, families through life's stormy weather. Having spent most of his life here in North Central Florida, Dr. Lew has successfully counseled many of our neighbors in and around Gainesville. Lew Fabrick gained experience working as a practitioner and clinical supervisor from 1975-84 and has been in full time private practice since.

I am a licensed clinical social worker. I began my career in the child dependency field and worked with children and families. I currently work in the hospital setting and my current role is the emergency room social worker. I have a variety of experience from newborns to older adults throughout my career. I have work with a wide variety of patient populations. As I progress in my career there is always still more to learn along the way. Many of the patients I see have experienced a traumatic event or recent life change.

I graduated with my Masters Degree from Fordham University in New York. I have experience providing therapy to children, teens, adults, families, and married couples. I have worked with teens and adults struggling with substance abuse, children who have migrated to the United States, and persons dealing with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and trauma of various forms.

Gary Geffken, PhD is a clinical psychologist who retired after 29 years on the faculty at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He has expertise supervising advanced trainees in mental health disciplines. While he was focused on primarily academic pursuits during his time at UF he continues to be enthusiastic about working with clients of all ages and their families, as well as mentoring advanced practitioners in mental health disciplines nearing the end of their training as they move toward independent practice.

As our minds compose the story it is possible for us to lose track of the plot. Occasionally we find ourselves believing that we are a supporting character in our own lives. You are meant to be the protagonist of your own story. I believe that you are meant to live a life of unique purpose, and that you are worthy of dignity and respect.
