As an adult woman with three children, ages 1, 7 and 9, I found myself in one of those places.
Yes, good counseling changed my life. Two degrees and years of healing later, I am now in the position of being able to provide you with a safe and comfortable place to deal with the circumstances you are facing and to help you find healing, peace and empowerment in your painful situation.

Life's unexpected twists and turns can leave us feeling lost, but having someone who offers support without judgment can make all the difference. Creating a safe haven where individuals can freely express their emotions is both an honor and a privilege. If you're facing challenges and feel stuck, know that you don't have to go through it alone. As a former Army soldier and an Air Force spouse, I understand the anxiety and uncertainty that often accompany life's "hurry up and wait" moments. I believe this shouldn't extend to mental health—we deserve proactive support.

As a therapist, my goal is to help others rediscover joy in life. I believe that even those facing trauma or distress can find hope, healing, and freedom. Many high-achieving individuals struggle with anxiety, depression, and stress, often feeling pressured to maintain a facade of "having it all together." Beneath the mask, they may feel lost, drained, and overwhelmed. If you or someone you know is finding it hard to cope due to life’s challenges, therapy can offer a safe space to heal, breathe deeply, and look forward to brighter days ahead.

Making the decision and moving forward with seeking therapy is a huge step and usually, it’s the biggest challenge in therapy. From the moment you step through my door, you’ve already got someone in your corner. I take pride in offering a supportive, calm, accepting, and safe environment for my clients. Today’s environment makes it more difficult for us to find ways to create healthy coping skills. We will work together to identify thought patterns and behaviors, process your emotions, and explore your values and beliefs. We’ll build those healthy coping skills together. It may not always be easy, but it will certainly be worth it.

I enjoy working with children, young adults, and adults who are ready to heal but need help in the process. My clients face challenges—whether trauma, deep emotional wounds, anxiety, or depression—and seek a safe, supportive space to process those experiences. They want more than just coping strategies; they aim to truly understand themselves, rediscover their strengths, and move toward a lighter, freer, and more fulfilling life. Life can feel heavy at times, can’t it? But you don’t have to face it alone!

Have you been feeling overwhelmed or disconnected lately? Are there parts of your past or present that seem to be holding you back from living the life you truly want? The adults and teens I work with often carry the weight of unresolved trauma, depression, anxiety, or the stress of major life changes. Many feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves and others, unsure how to move forward. They seek control, stability, and a release from the burdens of the past. In counseling, they aim to find a meaningful path forward—one that brings a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and deeper connection with themselves and others.

Depression and anxiety can leave you feeling lonely, scared and vulnerable. But you're not. I work with clients using a combination of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to practice mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help challenge those irrational thoughts and replace them with more helpful, constructive ones. We will incorporate some solution-focused and strengths-based therapies as well.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
