I specialize in treating anxiety and depressive disorders, relationship issues, men's issues, and
family
& parenting issues.
I feel very strongly that the therapeutic relationship is critical in helping clients work through their issues. However, it is also the therapist's style and ability, working collaboratively with clients, to identify these difficulties and plan a course of care in a safe and confidential environment that is equally essential. I have over 25 years experience working with adults, adolescents, couples and families.

Are you seeking to overcome everyday struggles, stressors,
family
conflict and/or previous traumatic situations? I can provide the help that you need to feel better about yourself and gain more confidence. The clients that i generally see, tend to struggle with making decisions that they feel like they have to make, or should make, rather than those that they want to make. My clients often wish they could feel more confident, feel better about themselves, and stop doubting what they say and do.

I have provided individual and

for a variety of issues, but my specialties include anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, and low self-esteem.
Does this sound familiar? “I can’t do this. I'll fail. I’m an awful person. I’ll never be good enough. I'm hopeless.” Thoughts like these are powerful and very common for anyone experiencing anxiety. Your thoughts and emotions are valid, but hearing these messages over and over again in your head can take a toll on your well-being. I aim to help my clients find new ways to cope with intrusive, negative thoughts that seem impossible to control. Negative thoughts have a source which is usually a deep, negative belief about the self. I assist my clients realize their strengths and create a new, more positive belief about themselves.

However, that does not take away from the difficulty of seeking help and breaking free of old patterns of thinking. If you are reading this, it means you are ready to take action. How would it feel to have your
family
understand your perspectives and pain points? Now try to imagine your
family
being on the same page.
You fight with everything in you. You are the person that spends your free time searching for solutions. Your
family
is strained. Tomorrow will bring new arguments, new misunderstandings, and more stress. There is no greater pain than the pain dealt by those who are supposed to love you. You have carried your share of pain and have made so many efforts to get things back on track. It is now getting to the point where you are not sure how much more you have left to give. You've hit a wall and at this point, you feel stuck and your
family
feels stuck.

I work with people who have gone through the same things I've gone through - divorce, remarriage, blended
family
& parenting struggles, grief & loss due to death and suicide, and loving & care taking of someone with a severe mental illness and/or chronic illness. Let's face it, finding a therapist is hard. You're feeling overwhelmed already and now you've got a list of people with letters after their names and little pictures. You look at the picture and wonder if that person is someone you can talk to. I've been there & it stinks! You deserve to have someone listen, someone to connect to, someone who understands your struggles.

Many of us navigate the world using the survival skills we learned in our childhood. We often grew up learning to view and interact with the world in a way that made us feel safe. Now, some of these survival styles hinder us from building deeper connections with others and ourselves. Our marriage becomes challenging,
family
interactions feel superficial, and we often feel the need to be vulnerable but don't out of fear of judgment. This stops us from connecting with others, establishing boundaries, and making better decisions.

Together, we can identify the patterns and behaviors that are keeping you stuck, and get your life back on the path you deserve.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
