As a licensed clinical psychologist, I provide individual and
couples
therapy for adults who struggle with various issues relating to anxiety, mood, substance use, self-esteem and self-worth, interpersonal relationships, and identity.
Do you ever feel stuck or paralyzed by the stories your mind tells you? Do you ever feel weighed down by hopelessness or trapped in your anxiety? Do you often find yourself at the mercy of a harsh and critical inner voice? The human mind is a masterful storyteller and these stories can lead us down dark and painful paths. They are often filled with “what ifs” and “shoulds” that keep us stuck in the past or catastrophizing about the future. Folks often seek out therapy when they feel stuck in life, are in crisis, or feel their emotions are becoming too much to cope with. They want a change but are unsure how to go about it.

When we begin to engage with each other, this is the time where we learn more about each other and start to lay the foundations of our therapeutic
relationship
and establish goals and support structure milestones.
LGBT, Relationships/Marriage, Sex, Kink/Fetish, Career Goals, Anxiety/Depression, HIV... Sometimes it can be so easy to sweep things under the rug and deal with it later. The problem is often we have so much going on that we forget to address things that we say we will. This therapeutic practice strongly believes that every person, every situation, and the surrounding circumstances are all unique. Your situation may sound like or seem similar to someone else’s but YOU are the factor that makes yours different, and that’s what the main focus will be; how you can be empowered to explore with me and take solutions into your world.

For fulfillment and satisfaction to flourish in your life, you need to first establish a healthy
relationship
with yourself. Addiction, anxiety, or depression can impact all your relationships and leave you feeling "stuck" and unable to choose a direction in your life. Talking to a professional can really help you move forward. There are many benefits to talking through what is troubling you with a professional rather than a friend. It is a process that you control in my solution-focused problem solving therapy practice method. For 30 plus years, I have provided new insights and skills to help clients create the life they want.

I began my journey from 2019 to 2020 with pregnant and post-partum moms with depression and/or anxiety,
couples
working on trust, communication, and security in their
relationship
.
Are there times in which you wonder, what the heck is happening around me? Why can't so and so see my perspective? I'm hurt, I'm sad, I'm MAD, I just don't know! Is it me, is it my past, I did not imagine MY life happening in this way. Life is a journey, but no one path fits us all. The goal of therapy is to uncover and understand what road is best to travel for you or with a
partner
. Going on the journey of therapy may get rough, but I'm here to walk alongside you when you cry, laugh, wonder, and discover YOU!

Before you make the decision to leave or decide to just sweep it under the rug and continue to be in pain, let me work with both of you.

Creating an honest and truthful
relationship
is paramount in understanding your perspectives, which allows me to cater each session specifically to your needs.
As human beings we all face various challenges in life. Sometimes we feel stuck, unmotivated, or maybe anxious in various situations. Not knowing how to navigate trials and tribulations in different chapters of our life can be daunting. That’s where I come in. My approach with the individuals I see is to create a non-judgmental, therapeutic environment where each person feels appreciated and understood. Vulnerability at its core can be intimidating for some, which is why I value creating a safe space to share your thoughts, allowing me to develop a deeper understanding of who you are.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
