I work with children and adults as they go through times of struggle, growth, and restoration by offering evidence-based resources and a Christ-centered approach to those who wish to incorporate their faith in their counseling journey.
We are a whole world. Therapy is about mapping out, traveling to, and learning from all of the places we have inside of us. We can choose the places we call home, the places we visit sometimes, and the places we bring closure to as time goes on. My job as a therapist is to help you explore how your life experiences, influential relationships, and core beliefs continue to play a part in your everyday life. I’ve found that if we can work together to visit uncomfortable places long enough to find calm and to start to look around, we’ll see that every life event has important insight to keep present as we live out new experiences.

You want a healthy child , thriving in this world.
Children are faced with new challenges, some of which are unique to their generation. It can be a struggle to find the balance between parent and friend. It takes a while to work up the nerve to even have a conversation with your child , and then..they blow you off. Despite your best efforts, talking, good cop/bad cop, rewards, consequences, you just can't get through to them. The tension is getting thicker, arguing more often, and disciplining is just not working. Let's work together to help your child grow and learn through life's many challenges.

While many children and adolescents try to express themselves through words, it is not their most competent means of communication.
Families can sometimes get stuck in destructive behavior patterns that affect all the members in different ways. When challenges arise either individually or as a whole, everyone is impacted and shares in the struggle. I embrace the power of the family unit. Throughout the therapeutic process, various forms of experiential and cognitive therapy will be woven into family sessions. Allowing the family to talk more freely and use creative forms of expression with one another can deepen the family's experience of each other and their own selves; thereby increasing understanding, enhancing communication pathways, and improving the overall relationship.

I have more than 10 years of experience working with children ages 5 to 18 in Miami-Dade and Broward County Public Schools.
My friends think, "I'm doing great." My family says, "Hang in there." My fingers text, "I'm OK". My heart says, "I'm broken". Whether you are struggling with making the decision to seek therapy and/or finding the "right" therapist, it is important to know that seeking therapy is one of the most important steps you can take towards personal freedom. Knowing this, I am compassionate about promoting a safe environment that empowers my clients to explore social and emotional concerns while finding the right choices for the journey of life.

Child Therapists

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
