If you are looking for a therapist who can sit with the full picture- the child whose ADHD is shaping the whole household, the teen working through an eating disorder, the parent navigating divorce or the adult who's been carrying it for years- that's the work I've spent the last 23 years doing.
My approach is integrative. For clients managing anxiety or ADHD, that often looks like CBT and concrete skill building. For clients working through trauma, mood swings, or dysregulated emotions, I lean on DBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy. With younger clients and families, I use Play, Art, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. My work meets the client.

'Life is difficult.' These words are no less true today than when they were written more than 35 years ago by M. Scott Peck. As a therapist, I believe I am engaged in a special calling to come along side those who encounter this truth to offer help, comfort and encouragement. Everyone's story is different and everyone has the right to expect to be treated as the unique person they are. Life may get no less difficult, but all of us can learn to adjust and cope to make the road less challenging.

I do not engage in telehealth with new clients...I am well acquainted with the difficulties that we encounter in life and how they can derail us. There are many life transitions that can bring about obstacles and dilemmas. The general day to day complications that we encounter as we mature, age, and walk the journey that is life can sometimes seem overwhelming. There is adjusting to, and leaving, school, family, relationships, jobs, and geographic areas. Trauma, illness, loss, and grief are also transition points that interfere with our functioning. Assistance at these times in our lives can be invaluable.

Life can change in an instant. Unexpected life events and unforeseen circumstances can shake the very foundation of our lives and shatter our illusions of control. A multitude of unanticipated events can negatively impact our lives, destroy our sense of safety, impair our mental health, and complicate our interpersonal relationships. Many times families and friends struggle to provide the support and direction we need during the turbulent seasons of life. It takes strength and courage to reach out for help but the benefits of taking that risk can lead to new insight, personal growth, and a renewed sense of purpose.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
