Psychotherapy takes courage. There is “no one size fits all” therapy. I treat each client according to their needs. Everyone is different and unique which requires flexibility on my part. Willingness to be open and a desire for a better life, is my ideal client. Whether it is anxiety, panic attacks, depression, bi-polar mood swings, couple issues, loss of a loved one, divorce, or parenting issues, research has confirmed that psychotherapy works.

For the last 30 years of my 40 years in practice, I have had a special interest and focus on conflict management. I have worked closely with colleagues in the private sector and the courts to develop programs and relationships that effectively assist those having difficulty managing their behavior in their interactions with others. Out of this has come my current focus on individual and couples counseling, anger management, and my commitment to change-oriented treatment techniques associated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My approach is low on pretense; high on listening, feedback and direction.

Frustrated with your own inability to consistently act according to your good intentions? I have been there. I have learned it was not my own doings but an internal conflict that was not my true self. I needed help to break free of old cycles, ideals, patterns, and ways of thinking. Many clients experience the same frustration of wanting to do what’s right yet feeling stuck in old habits, thought patterns, or emotional cycles. As a mental health professional, my role is to help clients identify the internal conflicts that create this struggle between who they are and who they want to be.

If you've found yourself feeling stuck, like you're losing touch with yourself, you’re not alone. This could be coming from anticipating a big life shift or trying to manage the stress of doing all the things... all of the time. You might be caught in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, or overwhelm, wondering, “Shouldn’t life feel better than this?”
Many of my clients look like they’ve got it all together on the outside but feel disconnected underneath. Therapy can help you interrupt those patterns, reconnect with yourself, and move forward with confidence and a sense of calm.

You work hard. You make the “right” choices most of the time. You are building a career, a family, you are checking the boxes and yet… something still feels off. Life feels dull. Boring. You wake up, go through the motions, and wonder: Is this all there is?
If you’re a man who feels stuck or stagnant, you’re not broken and you’re not alone. Many men reach a point in life where the success they’ve worked for doesn’t translate into fulfillment. You might not be in crisis, but you feel disconnected. Unmotivated. Like you’ve lost your sense of purpose or direction.

We provide outpatient treatment for alcohol use and addiction.
With over 25 years in addiction treatment across residential programs, correctional settings, MAT, and community care, I’ve work with individuals used to handling life on their own—veterans, blue-collar professionals, members of the motorcycle community, and men and women who value loyalty, privacy, and strength. Many have lived through trauma, addiction, and years in survival mode, carrying the weight alone. My approach is direct, grounded, and respectful. I don’t judge or lecture. I meet you where you are and help you build a solid path forward. Therapy can be practical, honest, and connected to real life—not clinical or detached.

Alcohol Use Therapists
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
