I use an eclectic client-centered approach incorporating Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT), Positive Psychology, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Are you feeling overwhelmed by daily obligations? Do you find yourself having difficulty focusing? Maybe you find yourself thinking you’re not good enough or feel like an imposter. Feeling things are out of your control, the tension in your body, the feeling you can’t possibly get everything done without disappointing others, and you want relief now. Anxiety can be debilitating. Those racing thoughts that feel uncontrollable do not have to be the main character in your life. I look forward to teaching you the strategies that will give you your life back.

I use CBT and DBT to help manage thoughts and emotions, Positive Psychology to focus on and enhance strengths, and an eclectic style to help deal with the past, present, and future.
Sometimes, life is going well. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and all the pieces seem to be in place. Sometimes, life throws us curve balls, or digs up things we thought were long buried and we slide down from our peaks. Life is about learning how to navigate the peaks and valleys that will inevitably come our way and hopefully, finding some enjoyment on the journey. Whether you find yourself looking to maximize your peak, get yourself out of a valley, or move beyond a plateau that has grown stale, I'd love to help. I am currently offering virtual morning sessions and have some flexibility for in person sessions.

In sessions, I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy ( DBT) skills, psychodynamic techniques, and elements of polyvagal theory, drawing from trauma-focused CBT when appropriate.
I became a therapist to help people explore their stories with care, curiosity, and compassion—especially those who’ve felt unseen or unheard in traditional mental health settings. As a first-generation South Asian American woman and Queens native, I’m deeply committed to providing culturally responsive therapy, including services in Bangla. My experience spans community mental health and outpatient settings, supporting individuals facing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and identity-based stress. I work from a trauma-informed, whole-person care approach that centers on safety, resilience, and emotional growth.

I see children and teens for individual counseling, group counseling, and also provide family counseling. Growing up is hard and so is parenting! We all have times when we could use extra support. I specialize in blended families and co-parenting support for all types of families.

I also use somatic therapies to help release stuck energy, CBT, DBT, ERP, REBT, and IFS, plus neuroplasticity techniques to rewire the brain, and foster self-compassion, safety, and lasting change.
Mind–Body Freedom is the goal. I integrate somatic therapies with traditional talk therapy because, when it comes to trauma, talk therapy alone often isn’t enough. We can’t think our way to feeling safe. Many of us already understand why we feel the way we do — yet still feel stuck. As I often say, “If you could have thought your way out of it, you would have done it by now." ;) Somatic and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) can help with that. Trauma, chronic stress, and anxiety are stored in the body & nervous system. That fight, flight, or freeze survival energy.

All problems have more than one solution, and solutions are not one-size-fits-all. My approach to helping a person find the right solution to a mental, emotional, or behavior problem is to first take the time to identify the problem, and then to understand the unique ways that the problem is affecting the person's functioning and relationships. A solution can only be effective if it's practical and consistent with the big picture of a person's life - it has to fit who you are and what you can do, otherwise it just becomes another problem.

I often use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques to help improve emotion regulation and to help build Mindfulness skills.
Anxiety, anger, and stress can be overwhelming. Becoming irritable, feeling as if you are 'snapping', problems sleeping, worrying and overthinking... just a few of the symptoms that you may be living with causing you to feel hopeless and 'stuck'. Stress and anxiety may have gotten to the point to where you don't even feel like yourself anymore. You may have even experienced a panic attack with no idea what led to it. You may be stuck in a cycle of lashing out at those closest to you and then feeling guilty... only making the anxiety worse.

Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
