I use an integrative approach that includes cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and
psychodynamic
therapies.
While people tend to not give themselves as much credit for how they manage life stressors, it is important to recognize that support is helpful in effectively overcoming challenges. Therapy serves as a tool to address these issues without feeling alone and judged. Learning ways to cope and process whatever life throws our way can lead to a reduction in distress and increased feelings of empowerment, setting us up for improvements in mood and relationship quality.

You wake up everyday and start the same daily grind. Week after week, you start to wonder "When does it get better?" You join the gym, try to meet new people, but you don't feel any different. You want to feel happy, confident and yourself again, but life keeps getting in the way. Plus, walking around wearing a mask is getting exhausting and you are ready to do something different, you just don't know where to begin. Especially since you don't feel right talking to other people, you don't want to feel like a burden. So you keep things to yourself, but it is time to start thinking about YOU and how to be happy again. You deserve it.

To the person meticulously scanning through these profiles filled with fear of making the wrong decision and feeling unsure of yourself. Take a deep breath, grab a cup of coffee or tea and let's chat. Put the "what if" worries on pause for a minute...maybe that's why you're here. Your mind won't rest. You have lists of tasks that need attention, but overthinking and procrastination interfere with that. You have to appear to "have it all together" because perfection is the only option. Fear consumes you; fear of letting others down and losing relationships, fear of failure, fear that you'll never be good enough.

Why do people seek psychotherapy and psychological counseling? Life brings challenges that make people discouraged. They find themselves facing problems and stressful situations which cause them to experience loneliness, anxiety, insomnia, sadness or anger. People hope to gain a better understanding of themselves and their situations. The goal in Therapy is to make your life work better. I focus on identifying and altering self-defeating behaviors through insight and awareness. This results in less self defeating choices and a greater sense of well being. Insight and Mindfulness are the tools of change.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
