I am a co-founder of Home For Balance Psychotherapy Group, where I currently conduct individual, group and family therapy .
Uncertainty is one of the most uncomfortable experiences. It's easy to get stuck in unhelpful thinking patterns such as "I should do more" and "I shouldn't worry about that." Oftentimes, as a result, we experience anxiety or distress. You may find yourself juggling work or school demands, relationship stress and even self-doubt. Creating balance in your life may not seem easy, but it's possible. Seeking the support of a psychologist can be a powerful step towards making a difference in your life. I focus on creating a collaborative environment to help you develop more adaptive ways to cope and to make supportive life changes.

As a bilingual family therapist , I explore the familial, cultural, and interpersonal issues affecting you.
Life and its transitions can leave you feeling defeated, overwhelmed and trapped. However, these "growing pains" can open up doors to experiencing more fulfillment and happiness. If you've lost passion in your life or relationships, struggling to get through the day, feeling alone, regretful, idealizing the past, or even numbing yourself in some way to avoid feeling empty, it's time for a change. Immigration assessments for waiver applications also provided.

Besides being a seasoned, experienced practitioner focused on the individual and family , I am also acutely sensitive to gender/power/societal and spiritual issues, as they may relate to some individuals.
When a client enters into psychotherapy, they commit themselves to an intimate connection in order to heal. I, in turn, commit to helping you in a way that is respectful, meets you where you are at, and honors your pace and style. I have often been told that I have a calm and healing presence. I work with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd), problems in relationships and living, and increasing satisfaction, balance, creativity and joy. In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and Energy psychotherapy methods.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
