Marriage and
family therapy
is brief solution-focused specific, with attainable therapeutic goals designed with the "end in mind".
I come to you. I believe in doing therapy in your own setting, but if you are uncomfortable with that, we do what makes you most comfortable. Licensed Marriage and
Family
Therapists are trained as relationship specialists who help people transform their relationships. During the therapy process, adults, children, couples, or families spend time with a skilled clinician to address concerns which may be causing distress. The seed for growth and change is perceived to be within individuals and their relationships. The therapist acts as a catalyst for the process of individual and interpersonal growth.

My practice specializes in the treatment of anxiety,
family
conflict, and couples counseling.
Hey there :) Really glad you've stopped by here! I'm Rebecca, founder and psychotherapist of RKG Psychotherapy. Times are super strange right now, and this isn't something you should have to handle without some support along the way. For a lot of us, this constant atmosphere of stress and uncertainty can feel unbearable at times. There has been an unprecedented shift recently in a nationwide embrace for mental wellness and caring for our mental health needs, and you can be a part of it. This a great time to start working with a counselor to address better and different ways to manage stress, conflict, and overwhelming emotions.

As a therapist, I’ve worked to help individuals and couples with a variety of concerns including life transitions, coping with addictions, military life challenged, relationship issues,
family
conflicts and more.
I commend you for taking this first step towards prioritizing your mental and emotional wellbeing. Choosing to be on this journey of change, growth and healing shows great courage and valuable insight. At times, we all feel overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, depression; experience loss, frustrations at work and challenges within relationships. At times we feel stuck, trapped in a toxic cycle or just weighted down by life's struggles. But these feelings, situations, experiences are not the end of your story. You’re on a Journey now and it’s a journey that you don’t need to walk alone.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
