Everyone deserves to be heard. Everyone deserves to be validated. Everyone is equal. I really think that people can choose to be whoever they want to be. Sometimes they just need a little direction and space to figure out what that means to them.
My clients have come to me for a variety of reasons. These include seeking guidance, skill building, goal-setting, increasing self-awareness and self-compassion, treating mental health symptoms, parenting & behavioral management, craving a safe space, issues in their relationships and others. There are no concerns too small to begin your therapeutic journey!
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LCSW, LISW-CP
I am a licensed psychotherapist and have spent the last 20 years dedicated to providing direct service as a helping professional in Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. I provide treatment for emotional and behavioral difficulties including specialized individual treatment with young children, teens, and adults for a variety of issues ranging from depression to ADHD. I utilize a wide range of treatment options from individual, group, couples, and family psychotherapy. In my daily practice I integrate traditional and holistic modalities of treatment.
As a licensed psychologist, I can help you become aware of your obstacles and move through them. Personal growth often requires recovering from past hurt and learning how to behave differently. This is a process that requires a trusting, nonjudgmental relationship. In treatment, my overarching goal is to provide a warm and supportive environment for you to explore your inner self and make lasting change. Although the prospect of change can feel daunting, most people find therapy to be tremendously helpful. Often the process requires setting new boundaries and prioritizing the self in the face of demanding schedules.
Couples and individuals seeking therapy deserve tremendous respect. Whether you are trying therapy for the first time, resuming treatment, or looking for a better fit, you are taking steps towards positive change. I believe that therapy is a place of growth where you gain a new perspective, overcome internal barriers, and experience more fulfilling ways of being. My approach to individual treatment is relational psychodynamic. In couples' treatment I use systemic and EFT modality. I work both with monogamous and consensual non-monogamous relationships.
I strive to provide my patient's with a safe environment where they can explore their unique issues and begin the process of change and healing. I see myself as a facilitator to help guide you toward reaching your goals and overcoming life obstacles.
If you're feeling stuck, anxious, or depressed, I'm glad you're here. My goal is to support you in getting relief, clarity, and hope. I am a licensed therapist in the states of CA and FL. I enjoy utilizing mind & body integration for both growth and healing, while also collaborating with you to cultivate balance and meeting your goals. I work with clients who experience challenges in their intimate relationships, big and small traumas, anxiety, and attachment wounds. It's important to me that you feel very comfortable in our sessions. We are on this journey of your healing together and my style is collaborative and warm.
I love working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, insomnia, and eating disorders as I know these can be easily overlooked or misunderstood and I hope to provide a space of true understanding and experience for those working through it. I care about collaborating with your outpatient team and will advocate for you to your doctor, dietician, psychiatrist, etc. For your own health and safety, seeing a medical provider may be an expectation set during our work together.
I've realized during my time practicing as a Mental Health Counselor, the immediate need for someone to listen! I empathize with individuals who want to be heard and understood. One common issue that stands out during my therapy session is difficulties communicating and listening among peers and family. I hear my client's say how difficult it has been for them to express and explain their perspectives to others and not feel heard. During these difficult times all we need is someone to listen without judgment.
I help individuals and couples who are struggling with grief, anxiety, depression, trauma or relationship issues. I offer a safe space to work through issues using a strength based approach. Are you undergoing a big life change? Feeling isolated and alone? Do you feel like you have hit a road block in life? By focusing on your natural strengths and what has worked for you in the past we will navigate the issues you are faced with together. I will help you to gain the new perspective you need to get the job done. After working with me you will feel enlightened and ready to face your day to day life with optimism.
Are you experiencing relationship or intimacy difficulties? Perhaps a break-up or a divorce? Experiencing an infidelity? Dating anxiety? Difficulty communicating? Perhaps you're in a sexless relationship? Relationship issues can leave you a little lost, disconnected, anxious or even depressed. Through various relationship stages we may encounter challenges that leave us feeling stuck, alone, or in unhealthy patterns. My work involves helping singles and couples navigate these challenges and recreating a vibrant relational narrative. Let's embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, growth and connection.
Often times in therapy, issues are addressed superficially only. This leads to a recurrence of episodes where the patient seems to improve but never really resolve their issues. A psychodynamic approach targets the roots of the problems, not simply the symptoms. My aim is the core, the starting point of it all, and from there work to resolve whatever else stems from that origin. My goal is for the patient to live a wholesome, functional, but above all, a meaningful life.
Life is a balance of holding on and letting go. We all experience times in our lives when we feel a bit out of balance. Whether it's in our relationships, work life, or general well-being, balance is essential for fulfillment and happiness. Anxiety, depression, anger, conflict, stress and other self-defeating issues create imbalances. Therapy helps to restore, and many times creates, the balance that is needed in all of our lives.
Are feelings of anxiety and disconnection more present in your life? Do relationships seem more complicated? Are your emotions feeling stronger, uncomfortable, or more unpredictable? These experiences can lead to feeling misunderstand, worried, frustrated, or alone. Stress, anxiety, and depression are painful experiences that can be a result of life changes, relationship conflict, social struggles, or feeling overwhelmed by the world around you. You may be tired of living your life on autopilot, and have reached a point where you are ready to see changes happen. I can help you move towards living your life in a more gratifying way!
I am very proud of the relationships I have formed with my clients. My focus is to empathize, support, and teach the tools to most effectively manage life's stressors. I strive to help each of my clients reach their own personal goals and have a realistic view of both themselves and others in the process. The hardest part is beginning to make different choices and choose those that increase our odds for success. That is where I hope to provide the most support.
NOW Openings Available! Do you want change but are skeptical about receiving therapy? Changes in our lives can be intimidating, especially when we're uncertain about how to resolve our issues or about who to turn to for assistance. As a therapist and OEF Marine Corps Veteran, I understand this struggle and have successfully treated various clients who used to feel that same way. Furthermore, I've also learned that more than one approach is sometimes necessary to effectively resolve multiple issues a client may be enduring, which is why I utilize an Integrative Therapy approach. This effective multimodal-approach does the following:
Are you struggling with relentless anxious energy? Anxiety can come from a number of different experiences and causes. I offer a therapeutic space where my clients can be authentic and their experiences can be understood. I help my clients manage their anxiety, stress, grief/loss, and other related issues. I like to work collaboratively with my clients to empower them to improve their overall well-being. I help treat clients from a holistic perspective. I focus on mind, body, and spirit. Through my counseling style, my clients get to process their struggles and find peace and balance, again.
