Whether you’re dealing with mental health struggles, chronic illness, or the weight of everything piling up at once - relief doesn’t require that you have it all together. I help clients find room to breathe in the midst of the chaos. I’m a Brazilian-American trilingual Psychologist (English, Spanish, Portuguese) working at the intersection of science and soul. My approach is warm, direct, and deeply attuned. I blend evidence-based tools like CBT and mindfulness with an embodied understanding of living in the storm of stress, trauma, and chronic pain.

When we think of the past, we may face depression. When we think of the future, we may encounter anxiety. However, we fail to be present and mindful of our “now”. My passion is to assist clients who have difficulty regulating their emotions, have negative thinking patterns, are experiencing symptoms of anxiety/depression, and are encountering life transitions. I love empowering and teaching clients to be mindful and acknowledge their inner strengths. My goal is that you thrive and create the life you want and deserve. YOU matter and you are in control of YOU!

I often incorporate approaches like CBT, ACT, DBT, and mindfulness, but in a way that feels natural.
Hi, I’m Anakarla. If you’ve been feeling anxious, stuck, hard on yourself, or unsure of who you’re becoming, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to sort it out by yourself. Many of the people I work with are used to “holding it together” on the outside, while quietly feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or questioning their direction on the inside. I’m a Latina therapist who believes therapy should feel warm, supportive, and rooted in real connection, not clinical or distant. My approach is collaborative and person-centered, which means we move at your pace and work together as a team.

I have received specialized training in Hypnotherapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and evidence-based mind-body techniques, including breathing exercises and guided relaxation.
Within each precious life, change is not only possible but inevitable. We can’t always avoid adversity, but we can always choose our response to it, and it is within this choice that we can find the potential for growth and freedom. Therapy allows us to pause, step back, reassess the situation we are facing, and finally to move in the direction of self-care, fulfillment and joy. My decades of teaching and practicing yoga/meditation have profoundly informed my therapeutic approach, allowing me to draw on a blend of Eastern mindfulness and Western cognitive psychology.

Accepting new clients April 2026! Starting therapy can feel awkward or scary, especially if you’ve never done it before or you’re worried about being judged. I get that. My style is warm, conversational, and real. No jargon or pressure, just a space where you can talk honestly about what’s going on and not feel like you have to filter yourself. Many of my clients are people who tend to hold things in, help everyone else first, or feel like they should have it all together. If therapy has always seemed intimidating, my goal is to make it feel like a genuine conversation, not a cross-examination.

Do you ever feel like you're constantly rushing, even when there's nothing urgent? Do you think you're so focused on getting to the next goal or place that it's hard to live in the moment? Is it challenging to manage your endless stream of thoughts to the point where it feels overwhelming? If you said yes to any of these questions, know that you are not alone. Many people struggle to keep up with the demands of our fast-paced, productivity-driven society, with self-care often becoming a second thought. However, your feelings are entirely valid and deserve to be acknowledged and held.

I'm extensively trained in the following evidence-based therapies: Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
You may look like you’re functioning on the outside, but inside your mind feels loud and overwhelming. Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or trauma memories keep looping, and you’re exhausted from trying to manage it alone. If you’re struggling with anxiety or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), you might find yourself overthinking, seeking reassurance, or avoiding situations just to get temporary relief. You want peace, clarity, and to trust yourself again. If you’re ready to face what’s been keeping you stuck, with support and structure, we can begin that work together.

Reframes, radical acceptance and grounding are important tools used in treatment.
Individuals who seek my help and support are those who know something has to change and are not sure what or how change needs to take place. If you are experiencing unstable relationships, emotional responses, fear and regret leading you to have an overall state of depression or anxiety, I would like to help. Survivors who recognize they have trauma or even those who minimize their traumatic experiences would be ideal clients as helping others heal from trauma has always been my passion and where I hope to make the most impact in the field of counseling and in the world.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
