EMDR Therapists in Coconut Grove, FL
I am trained in EMDR and Gottman Method 1 and 2.
I see you. You may be working toward your best self, raising a developing one, or growing within a committed relationship. You’re driven, capable, and often juggling a lot, showing up even when things feel heavy. While you may be highly functioning on the outside, you may not feel as good on the inside. You might feel stuck, disconnected, or notice patterns that aren’t working. These moments aren’t failure, they’re signals that support and insight are needed. Therapy offers space to gain clarity, strengthen relationships, and create a path forward that aligns with who you are and what you want.

Perceptive, self-aware adults receive support through EMDR, trauma-informed therapy, and nervous-system work.
You already know what it's like to carry so much with care and intention. You’re self‑aware, responsible, and the one others rely on, yet you can feel the quiet weight of old patterns, emotional fatigue, or a sense that you’ve outgrown your current coping. I work with high‑achieving, high‑insight adults ready for deeper, integrated change. My approach is warm, grounded, and clinically precise, helping you move from “functioning” to feeling whole.

I integrate Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Brainspotting to help understand why certain reactions happen and how to respond to them differently.
You may feel overwhelmed by lingering pain from past experiences and unsure how to break free from patterns that keep resurfacing in your life and relationships. Maybe trust has been broken, intimacy feels distant, or communication leaves you feeling misunderstood instead of closer. Deep down, you want healing, not just relief from symptoms but real change that helps you feel grounded, connected, and understood. You are looking for a safe place to explore these struggles, gain clarity about what is holding you back, and begin living with greater self-trust and a deeper connection to others.

My ideal client feels stuck between who they’ve been and who they want to be. They’re navigating anxiety, self-doubt, relationship struggles, or trauma—and they’re tired of doing it alone. They’re often the ones others rely on, but rarely have space for themselves. They want clarity, peace, and more authentic connection. They don’t need fixing—they need a place to be seen, supported, and gently challenged. Together, we work to untangle what’s holding them back so they can live with more freedom and self-trust.

Your relationship is no longer the safe and loving experience you signed up for. What was once a sacred space, a peaceful home, has now turned into a battleground over the smallest things, like a lost remote control. Communication has all but broken down. You and your partner used to be each other's biggest fans, but it’s more like you are roommates now, going along with the motions. Your emotional connection has dwindled, along with a fulfilling sex life. You long to go back to when you found comfort in this person, but you don’t know how. You’re still in love and determined to make things work.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
