Using a behavioral approach, I place an importance on the
family
unit and emphasize the importance of all members of the
family
.
We provide services to all children and adolescents. I specialize in developing individualized therapy for children up to age 18 with behavior problems and emotional concerns. Often times, the behavior of children can lead to a number of problems in the home and the entire

Uncertainty is one of the most uncomfortable experiences. It's easy to get stuck in unhelpful thinking patterns such as "I should do more" and "I shouldn't worry about that." Oftentimes, as a result, we experience anxiety or distress. You may find yourself juggling work or school demands, relationship stress and even self-doubt. Creating balance in your life may not seem easy, but it's possible. Seeking the support of a psychologist can be a powerful step towards making a difference in your life. I focus on creating a collaborative environment to help you develop more adaptive ways to cope and to make supportive life changes.

Do you feel exhausted from trying to keep your head above water? Have you been wanting to break out of a vicious cycle, but nothing seems to be working? Making a change is hard work, but you don’t have to do it alone. As a licensed psychologist, I specialize in the treatment of eating and body image concerns, grief and loss, depression, and relationship issues. Imagine what it would feel like to plan your day around friends,
family
, and the things most important to you instead of feeling like you need to hide your body, food, or exercise schedule. Picture how different your life would be if you could be kind towards yourself.

Imagine that your
family
had fun together.
You grew up dreaming about your future
family
, but now those dreams feel like nightmares. You wake up every day wondering what happened to you
family
? Why are things so hard? You feel like everyone else has the answers but you. You worry about your children's futures, wondering if they will be successful, happy and healthy. You fast-foreword your child's life and it worries you. What if they never learn the skills to be a good employee, good partner, good person? You imagine what they would be like to have as a co-worker and don't like what you see. You worry that they will never be able to stay on-task and finish assignments.

Mediator has further enriched my ability to assist in resolving conflicts and stressful life situations.
I believe that counseling is a way to strenghten oneself emotionally so that one's life journey can be traveled with calmness, peacefulness, integrity and well-being. Since this journey is not always easy, counseling offers a partnership to explore problems, challenges and life events with the assistance of a well-trained, knowledgeable and empathetic guide by your side. As each life story and circumstances are different, so too are the various approaches that are available. I believe that each individual is unique and, therefore, endeavor to use my training and experience to provide the safest and most comfortable format for effective therapy.

Life and its transitions can leave you feeling defeated, overwhelmed and trapped. However, these "growing pains" can open up doors to experiencing more fulfillment and happiness. If you've lost passion in your life or relationships, struggling to get through the day, feeling alone, regretful, idealizing the past, or even numbing yourself in some way to avoid feeling empty, it's time for a change. conflict, and couples counseling.
Hey there :) Really glad you've stopped by here! I'm Rebecca, founder and psychotherapist of RKG Psychotherapy. Times are super strange right now, and this isn't something you should have to handle without some support along the way. For a lot of us, this constant atmosphere of stress and uncertainty can feel unbearable at times. There has been an unprecedented shift recently in a nationwide embrace for mental wellness and caring for our mental health needs, and you can be a part of it. This a great time to start working with a counselor to address better and different ways to manage stress, conflict, and overwhelming emotions.

There’s an Art & Story to Therapy. It's a delicate balance between skills, teaching, listening, reflecting, empathy, courage and most importantly insight. Over these years of being a clinician, I’d like to think I’ve come close to mastering that Art & Story. What’s helped? Developing a genuine and honest therapeutic relationship with you. Why? Simple, it helps you confront your issues, meet your needs and achieve your goals. If you’re finding your canvas and book are empty, overwhelming or in disarray by anxiety, relationship issues, trauma or lack of purpose than let’s collaborate in your journey toward peace, meaning and wellness.

I view therapy as a useful step in personal growth, rather than a process to treat what is "wrong with you." I value the mind-body connection and tailor my treatment approach to meet the individual strengths and needs of each client. My approach is client-centered and together we will focus on guiding you towards your goals. My training and experience in the education system provides me a unique opportunity to work with the wide range of challenges and demands we are facing and feeling today - from isolation, rigorous demands, bullying, peer pressure,
family
conflict, grief, social media comparisons, and much more.

My experience is with parental guidance, teens, middle school and elementary school children and issues disrupting the
family
.
I believe there is a balance in every facet of our lives. Balance refers to a state of equilibrium a point where we all find calm. I would venture to say a place or state we all strive to achieve. Yet, we also know our lives are filled with those times when things are just not what they used to or should be. Whether your part of a sandwich generation (caring for children as well as elderly parent or parents); a parent of a teen who swears they know best and you have never lived life; your middle schooler looks and sounds like another person (due to their behavior); your toddler or school age child is making life difficult.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
