Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists in Clermont, FL

I hold certifications in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for treatment of self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideations, BPD, and mood disorders; and in Exposure Response Prevention ( ERP) for OCD, phobias, and panic.
Do you feel like you’re “too much” or like you have to hide the depth of your pain just to get through the day? Do you or your teen feel overwhelmed and out of control by your thoughts and intense emotions? Do you feel like you’ve tried everything but the pain keeps getting worse? Life is difficult when you feel like your thoughts and emotions are out of control. You're not alone—and you’re not broken. You’re a human being doing your best to survive. Therapy shouldn’t feel like just another place where you have to pretend you’re okay.

I am trained in EMDR to treat trauma and provide ERP and ACT for OCD/ruminating behaviors
Anxiety, anger, and stress can be overwhelming. Becoming irritable, feeling as if you are 'snapping', problems sleeping, worrying and overthinking... just a few of the symptoms that you may be living with causing you to feel hopeless and 'stuck'. Stress and anxiety may have gotten to the point to where you don't even feel like yourself anymore. You may have even experienced a panic attack with no idea what led to it. You may be stuck in a cycle of lashing out at those closest to you and then feeling guilty... only making the anxiety worse.

I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), I-CBT, and ERP.
Have you lost sight of who you are after having a hard childhood, unhealthy relationship, or just a hard life? Do you wonder "what would I be like if I didn't go through that?" Maybe there is a part of you that's worried you're too far gone, too messed up, too broken, to find healing and feel better. Imagine if you could start understanding the "why" behind what you think, feel, and do and learn the "how" you can get to a place of clarity, confidence, and feeling in control. I believe that you don't have to be defined by what happened to you. We can find the real you beneath the survival mode version you had to be to get this far.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.
Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.
How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.
What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
