You don’t feel like yourself anymore — and you can’t get anyone to take it seriously. The exhaustion, the irritability, the anxiety that arrives out of nowhere. ¿Sientes que has perdido tu esencia? You’re still holding everything together at work and at home, and inside you feel like a stranger. Perimenopause, menopause, PCOS, and PMDD change your body and your nervous system at once. Hay esperanza — you don’t have to figure this out alone.

You’ve built a successful career through hard work, drive, and high standards. But inside, you’re exhausted. The pressure to perform never lets up, and no amount of achievement leaves you truly fulfilled. You’re always afraid of underperforming, disappointing others, and losing the edge that got you here. You don’t want to keep living this way – and you don’t have to. I have over 20 years of experience helping professionals like you attain success that feels sustainable, not suffocating.

During life’s difficulties, we often feel unheard and alone. Aloneness can be enough to overwhelm. Add in relationship conflicts, parenting struggles, and work issues. More so, a significant life event like a death or divorce. Where can you turn for support? We all can find ourselves needing care and comfort. Beginning the first time we meet; you will be heard. Better yet, my goal is for you to feel heard. My experience is the aloneness will start to subside knowing you have someone to walk alongside you. I say alongside because you are the expert of your life and I believe you will guide us in the direction we should go.

I work with women who are excellent at everything except this. You’ve built a career, you hold a family together, people rely on you — and there’s one thing you cannot seem to move no matter how well you understand it. I’m an LMFT and EMDR-trained trauma therapist in Brandon, and most of my work now happens in Somatic EMDR Intensives: concentrated blocks rather than an hour a week. Here’s what I kept watching in weekly sessions. We’d spend fifteen minutes getting back to where we left off, go deep for twenty, then close it down so you could drive home. Month after month. An intensive removes that cycle — we stay with the work...

There are seasons in life that feel heavy and disorienting, when anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma make it hard to see a way forward. You may be wrestling with self-worth, relationship struggles, or a loss that has changed your sense of stability. Some people I work with are seeking clarity in their faith or trying to rediscover purpose after disappointment or transition. Whatever brings you here, you may simply long for peace, authenticity, and a space where your story is heard and valued.

You're powerful at work. At home, you feel like a stranger. If you're a high-performing man whose marriage feels like it's drifting, or whose partner says you're "not really there" even when you're in the room, you're not broken. You're carrying a pattern nobody taught you how to put down. You got so good at handling things — deadlines, pressure, other people's problems — that you stopped noticing you were doing the same thing at home. Competent. Reliable. Not really present. I also work with the anxiety underneath it — irritability, overworking, going numb. And when stress won't let you sleep, we address that too.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
