Thank you for dropping in! By now you've read a ton of bios and you're wondering if you'll find a therapist you can connect with. That's why I offer a free 15 minute consult. An important factor in successful therapy is the connection between you and your therapist. From the American Psychological Association: "In fact, hundreds of studies have found that a very important part of what makes psychotherapy work is the collaborative relationship between psychologist and patient, also known as a therapeutic alliance. The therapeutic alliance is what happens when the psychologist and patient work together to achieve the patient's goals.

I offer men a way to reconnect and regain a sense of control.
With clinical expertise and lived experience, I’ve helped men overcome the same battles you’re facing. Whether it’s porn addiction, divorce, trauma, or an emasculating marriage—this isn’t who you are. It’s where you are. There’s a way through—I’ve seen men walk it and come out stronger.

I focus on Men's Wellness: For Men, By Men: including Masculinity, Intimacy, Sexuality, Infertility, Intrusive Thoughts, and Problematic Behavior.
My ideal client is someone with a listening ear, with the courage to reimagine his/her life. Someone with dreams and a passion to realize them... Or maybe somebody broken and lost. Someone imperfect. Because that's real. That's being human. To quote a British philosopher: "I'm not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts, some superhero, some fairy tale bliss... I want something just like this..."

In the past 17 years, I have been able to help men, women and families to unlock the dark spaces that have kept them stuck over their lives, by equipping them with the skills they need to reconnect attachments, recognize their "inner gangster", and mend broken relationships.
My clients are adolescents, adults & couples who are active participants in their own healing, with us exploring relational and interpersonal challenges that have prevented you from having the confidence that you need to cope and thrive. I specialize in helping couples find their way back to the love that they once experienced before challenges like infidelity and conflict got in the way.

For over the past 10 years, I've counseled women and men with different diagnoses from various backgrounds, belief systems, ideologies, and walks of life.
I have a person-centered holistic approach to therapy that works with clients at their pace. Understanding that therapy is not a one-size fits all, I incorporate several treatment modalities (CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and more) as needed in order to address client symptoms/challenges that are impacting their level of functioning.

I have experience working with a variety of individuals and communities, primarily men, individuals identifying as LGBTQ+, and people in recovery.
“To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself” (Zen master, Thich Nhat Hahn). This statement describes well my approach to counseling, using a person-centered perspective to explore what might be holding you back and to strive together to achieve the insights and change that you'd like to create.

I have worked with people from just about every walk of life- women, men, TGNB folx, grandparents, doctors, students, veterans, executives and more.
I am a little different from traditional psychologists or counselors in that my background is in primary care; in that sense visits with me are therapeutic, but straight forward and not too "fluffy." People I work with often find this refreshing, especially if they aren't comfortable with a more stereotypical style of traditional mental health counseling.

As an open gay man, I take pride in serving the Florida LGBTQ+ community.
Needing to make a big change? Stuck in a job, relationship, or routine? Wanting to “turn the page” and create a new chapter in life but don’t know how to begin? It happens to all of us and there's something we can do. It's called "mental fitness." Just like physical fitness trains our bodies, mental fitness trains our brains to help us respond to life's challenges with a positive mindset to improve performance, lower stress, and build healthy relationships.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
