Difficulties like posttraumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder can be complex and extremely disruptive.
Isolation, anxiety, anger, disrupted sleep, poor health choices, pushing others away, losing touch with things you used to enjoy. These are signs that you are stuck, unable to move past a toxic experience. Maybe you want to feel more connected with others and make healthier choices. Maybe you can't leave your home without hours of worry or preparation. Maybe you've secretly struggled with debilitating anxiety for years and are finally ready to do something about it.

I work via Tele-Mental Health Therapy in Florida and Kentucky. I work with those struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Addiction, Grief and Loss, or hundreds of other mental health issues. I believe you have the power to change and regain your life. I am just a fellow traveler on Life's journey who has many years of education and experience to help show you the way. I often work with my wife, Dawn, to help families and those struggling with their marriage or relationship. Sometimes couples prefer to talk with another couple. Dawn also helps with therapeutic support so you can get support during the week and between sessions.

Most of my clients are struggling with the daily issues of everyday life and relationships. They want to feel better but don't know how to break through habitual patterns of thinking and doing. Eventually frustration, unhappiness, and feelings of anxiety and depression set in. I know how hard depression is and how it strips away the simple pleasures of life, and how anxiety hijacks the ability to enjoy daily living. It doesn't have to stay this way. Maybe it's your time to make some changes for a different outcome. Like Nathaniel Branden, I believe, "Your life is important. Honor it. Fight for your highest possibilities." (1994)

Talking things out is good. Holding things in, is not. If you go to doctors for your body, then why wouldn't you go to a doctor for your mind? There is nothing wrong with working on your thoughts and emotions, in fact, if everyone worked on their inner world, we would have a completely different outer world. If you're ready to start working on your self, your relationships, or if you feel like you're not achieving your potential, then give me a call. Please read my reviews by clicking on the Website link under my photo.

We all encounter obstacles and challenges along our journey in this adventure that is life. Sometimes, despite previous experiences and present resources, it becomes overwhelming. Seeking assistance can be difficult, but therapy can provide a completely objective space where YOU can be seen and heard, unencumbered by fear of judgement or of your vulnerability being used against you. Together we can modify your thought habits, behavioral patterns, and subconscious roadblocks that are currently preventing you from making that change you desire or moving towards living your best life.

I primarily use AEDP, IFS, and EMDR to treat OCD, addictions, and stress related illnesses.
I am fully certified in two evidence based therapies1) EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and 2) IFS or Internal Family Systems Therapy. In a very SAFE manner, they can be VERY effective. I emphasize the word SAFE because NOTHING is ever discussed unless YOU are comfortable discussing it. You're "the boss" as to what we cover/discuss in therapy.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
