I believe the traditional 60 minute session for couples is not very effective. Couples get very frustrated at the 60 minute mark when therapists end sessions abruptly. As a result, I allocate about 75 minutes when meeting with couples. Please note that I do not accept insurance for couples' sessions. My fee is $150.00. Hello, I am Valerie, a bilingual therapist (English & Creole) licensed in Connecticut, Florida, and Oregon. I work with individuals, couples, families, and other related systems. The Behavioral Health Center has been providing exceptional quality comprehensive assessment and treatment services in Middlebury and the surrounding towns for the past 16 years. We are pleased to add the additional location of Shelton. The scope of these services include: Assessment, diagnosis, treatment and medication management for the full range of behavioral, emotional, mental health, educational and social difficulties, and disorders. The multi-disciplinary team of the Behavioral Health Center is capable of servicing the therapeutic and educational needs of children through adulthood in a variety of treatment modalities.

I also have experience and training treating anxiety, depression, grief, issues related to self-esteem, stress management, marriage/pre-marital, parenting, and mediation. I have been in the mental health field and ministry for 7 years focusing on the black church, the black family and the stability of people of color's Mental Health in the context of faith-based trauma. I can provide both faith based and secular counseling. I believe in using the science or/and the sacred for healing.
