Our Team
Hi, I’m Mat (he/him), a queer therapist, father, and the founder of Fire Island Pines Psychotherapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating identity, trauma, addiction, and relationship transitions, especially LGBTQIA+ folks, polyamorous partnerships, and those seeking a warm, culturally attuned space to heal.
You don’t need to be "fixed", you need to be heard. Our work together isn’t about symptom-chasing; it’s about unpacking systems that have harmed you, reconnecting to your own wisdom, and building the life you want without shame or fear.

You've spent your life being the strong one, the guarded one, the one who survives no matter what. Maybe you're exhausted from moving through a world that has never fully seen you, or from carrying the weight of environments where you didn't feel safe, affirmed, or free to just be yourself. You deserve a space where you don't have to carry that alone anymore.Hi, I'm Donita. I specialize in working with individuals from marginalized, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and Stud (Black lesbian and queer) communities who are looking for a therapy space where they can show up fully, without feeling judged, misunderstood, or pressured to shrink.

You deserve a space where your full self feels seen. Whether you're navigating identity, grief, creativity, or relationships that exist beyond the "norm," I offer therapy grounded in curiosity, connection, and care. As a queer therapist, I create a collaborative and affirming environment where all parts of you—messy, magical, stuck, or thriving—are welcome.
My approach is relational and trauma-informed, often integrating creative expression and narrative work. I specialize in supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals, artists, and those in non-traditional relationship structures who are seeking grounding, clarity, or simply a place to unload.
