Hi, I’m Mat (he/him), a queer therapist, father, and the founder of Fire Island Pines Psychotherapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating identity, trauma, addiction, and relationship transitions, especially LGBTQIA+ folks, polyamorous partnerships, and those seeking a warm, culturally attuned space to heal. You don’t need to be "fixed", you need to be heard. Our work together isn’t about symptom-chasing; it’s about unpacking systems that have harmed you, reconnecting to your own wisdom, and building the life you want without shame or fear.

I believe therapy should be a place where your whole self is welcome, your joy, your grief, your questions, and your resistance. You are not broken. The systems around you may be. Together, we’ll work toward reclaiming safety, agency, and connection in your life. Our work will honor your lived experience, cultural context, and the brave act of seeking help.

My practice is rooted in harm reduction, relational therapy, and social justice. I work with queer folks, trans folks, polyamorous couples, and anyone seeking a deeply affirming and honest therapeutic relationship.We offer virtual sessions across New York State, with flexible times for working professionals, families, and caregivers.
