My ideal client is one who is willing to explore uncomfortable areas in their life and understand that vulnerability is part of the process. One of the most important parts of therapy to me is highlighting accountability and what roles we play in our own lives. I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with relationship issues, self-esteem, irrational thinking, and life adjustments. A client who can pinpoint what they would like to improve in their life and request a little bit of guidance along the way is an ideal client. Their goal is not to be perfect but to improve their day-to-day life a little more each day.

I'm a neurodivergent queer feminist artist & collector of all things Gritty, so if you're hoping to find a therapist who's an authentic, sensitive & relatable oddball, I'm eager to learn about your therapy needs.
I help free spirits & square pegs who are struggling socially, emotionally, academically or professionally find their spark & rekindle confidence. You're sensitive, offbeat, maybe queer or 2e, a bit of a rebellious streak, and feel stuck, like you're "not living up to your potential." If you're the caregiver for a kid whose light has dimmed, or a young person who's sad, anxious or overwhelmed, I can help you find a path forward that allows you to be yourself, make the most of your strengths, and live your best life. My approach prioritizes care, compassion, creativity & authenticity, tailored to your needs.

As a person-centered counselor, I incorporate cognitive behavioral techniques and feminist theory approaches in my therapeutic relationships.
Our mental health impacts the way we interact with the world around us. By seeking counseling, you’ve already taken the courageous first step towards a healthy solution. Together, we can identify your thoughts, beliefs and habits that may be getting in your own way. We can examine the pain you’ve experienced with compassion and set up an environment where you allow yourself to begin to let go of what no longer serves you.

Couple & Family Therapist. The right fit and connection with your therapist is key. Perhaps...Your relationships may not not be what they once were or what you had hoped they would be...Your sense of future is burdened by past trauma or shame...You are struggling with crushing grief and loss...You are tired of making the same mistakes and hurting yourself and the people you love...Your relationship is in a crisis or trying to recover from an affair...You are trying to find your way as a parent...You feel like an imposter as a professional...Or, you simply need an objective "witness" to your life and struggles.

There are many reasons that we as humans will experience chaos within ourselves and our relationships. Perfectionism, trauma, ignored emotional wounds, and underlying mental health issues are just a few of these reasons. Most people will try to ignore these things, and that may work...for a time. One thing I have come to learn in working with people is that if we don’t address these issues, we can be sure that they will eventually address us, and that can be a painful experience.

Lets be real. You’re in a bad spot and the last thing I want to do is bore you with optimistic clichés full of toxic positivity and lofty promises of healing and wellness. If you are having a difficult time adapting to everything going on around you and these “unprecedented times”, or if you are frustrated with the collective vibe to just accept crappy circumstances, you have come to the right place.

Most of my clients are people who have lost sight of how awesome they actually are whether that be due to some sort of trauma, a bad or unfulfilling relationship, a chronic illness, or a mental health disorder. They are people looking to make sense of their realities and to learn how to manage them. My clients are mostly adolescents and adults, but I will see children who are capable of handling the telehealth format.

Therapy is about opportunities and possibilities. Opportunities and possibilities are done with exploration, discovery, and destinations. I am the guide supporting someone to realize those opportunities and possibilities supporting the individual through their own exploration, discovery and destinations. This is done with a focus on the individual not theories. Instead, I am someone who uses creativity and flexibility within the theories to help connect with the individual. Without a healthy therapeutic relationship, the goals the individual wants to achieve in therapy will not be obtained. Therapy is about you, not theories.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
