We are a team of counselors that are knowledgeable, dedicated and caring. We provide non-judgmental support while remaining strength focused with an individualized treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.

I have experience working with teens, first responders, adults and the military community (active duty, retired, family).
Accepting New Clients! Have you been feeling overwhelmed, you just don’t know what to do and nothing seems to be working? The emotional and mental weight of life can often lead us to feel unsure and unsafe in our own mind and in our bodies. My passion aligns with helping individuals navigate and manage their emotions and thoughts by developing awareness of their triggers, acceptance as to why this may be happening, and coping skills to help us transform/evolve. I use an integrative approach including traditional psychotherapy as well as somatic interventions, breathing exercises, Yoga, meditations and guided visualizations.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic and weaves together trauma, attachment, psychodynamic, cognitive, and family systems models.
As a trauma therapist (EMDR) and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, (CSAT), I focus on both individual work and repairing broken relationships related to the impact of addiction and trauma. I have studied extensively with Pia Mellody since 1999, honing the skills necessary to work on trauma, codependency, love addiction and developmental immaturity. This groundbreaking work assists people who are either in recovery, have relationship issues or who just want to enhance the quality of their lives.

I provide individual, family, and group counseling services.
I provide a nonjudgmental and compassionate atmosphere, in which you can safely explore and work feelings, thoughts, images, and beliefs that maybe keeping you from moving forward in life. I believe that for therapy to be effective, both you and I must be actively involved in developing treatment goals and assessing progress. Efforts to change self-perception, emotions and behaviors require work both in session and out of session. Therapy is a process in which you, the client gain insight, and tools that will facilitate continued growth and development after the counseling has ended.

Hello! I work with those seeking confidential and discreet support in working through personal challenges and stressors impacting their everyday lives. Many individuals struggle with depression and anxiety, trauma, problems in relationships, work-related conflicts, or simply put, that feeling that something "just isn't right." Difficult feelings can be hard, however, also a gateway for personal growth. You do not have to go through this alone. My goal is to help you gain awareness and explore difficult thoughts, feelings, and past experiences which prevent you from feeling like your best self, and improve your relationships.

I approach counseling from a cognitive behavioral perspective, meaning that I believe that our thoughts produce our feelings and our feelings produce our behaviors. However, I also use EMDR and Internal Family Systems in combination with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to give my clients a range of avenues to find their healing. I try to make every session practical and productive. I have also written a book, "Forgive and Live", which I use in group therapy and has recently been re-written as a video series.

In San Diego, I got my graduate degree from San Diego State University, receiving my MS in Counseling–Marriage and Family Therapy in 2008.
Not accepting clients at this time. Have you been struggling with unsettling feelings in your personal relationship and you can’t seem to figure out how to make things any different? I believe we all get into a relationship to feel connected to someone and to be able to grow and share our lives with another human. When we don’t connect, we feel uncomfortable. Whether it’s because of communication issues, different schedules, differences in parenting, or ways of managing stress; if our partner doesn’t understand us, we feel alone. My role as therapist is to help you identify what you want different in your life.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
