You’re caught in patterns of over-thinking, overwhelm, avoidance, and perfectionism. You feel stuck but you aren’t sure why or how to fix it. You’re used to taking care of everyone else, being the problem-solver and the overachiever, so it’s hard to ask for help or know what you might need. You. Are. Exhausted. You miss the days where you felt clearer, connected, present, and peaceful. You escape into another wellness podcast, or do a little “self-care”, but you know the relief is temporary. It’s time to make a change. Break away from patterns of worry, stress, overwhelm and finally feel satisfied in the life you've created.

Seeking out mental health treatment is a supreme act of valor. It takes a great deal of courage to acknowledge when depression, anxiety, and PTSD are causing your life to be unmanageable. We all need someone to witness what it means to be human. Thank you for considering me as someone to walk down the path of healing with you.

Are you struggling to live the life you want? Do you keep finding yourself in the same place without knowing how to change? Current situations and events can trigger old pain & trauma which can be confusing & negatively impact relationships. They can also lead to creating misguided stories that you tell yourself and that keep you anxious or in fight/flight states. I believe we sometimes need help untangling and making sense of our experiences and/or trauma in life in order to thrive. Through non-judgmental warmth, compassion and self-reflection, we re-wire old thoughts and behaviors and help you live a more authentic life.

I am passionate about working with folks highly motivated to grow and create positive change in their lives by breaking cycles of abuse and trauma. Clients of mine have described themselves as “too self-aware for therapy” or an “intellectualizer,” often due to the intersection of neurodivergence (ADHD/Autism) and complex trauma.

You look like you have it all together. In reality you are struggling to make it through the day. Feeling pressured to be everything to everybody? All the while, internally you are a mess. You've been through challenges in the past and normally you are able to work your way through and bounce back. But now, this has gone on longer than you hoped. Life as a mom is not what you expected. Leaving you feeling like a shell of your former self. Do you find yourself up at night worrying about what’s to come or replaying day? You know that change is needed and you are ready to take the next steps.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
