A cisgender, bi+ woman, I'm very familiar with anxiety, fear, and spending time in the bisexual double closet.
You've worked hard to get where you are, navigating anxiety, invisibility, sexism, "otherism." Your inner rebel is ready to kick internalized patriarchial narratives to the dust: "Too much." "Not enough." "Don't rock the boat." You've done therapy, thought you'd dealt with past crap - poor self esteem, toxic family and childhood trauma. But, restlessness, anxiety, and the "what if.s.." are back. It's time to do the deep dive. Get to the roots of fear, and insecurity that's holding you back. Reconnect with your playful inner child. Let's find your voice. And use it.

I believe we all have the capacity to live and create authentic lives where we can honor our actual needs instead of living up to the expectations around us. I love working with people who struggle with managing big feelings or feel a little stuck and want to find ways to live the life they daydream about. My favorite moments in therapy sessions are when my clients' faces light up because something clicked and one or some of the techniques, skills, and changes we have talked about created change in their lives.

I help people living with depression, self-identity struggles, grief, trauma and have experience working within LGBTQIA+ and ethical non-monogamous communities. The children I see have/are experiencing abuse, behavior concerns, and life stressors. My role as a therapist is to offer authentic and genuine reflections and to help strengthen your mental capacity and confidence to handle internal and external stressors. I believe we all have a story to tell, some intertwined with tragedy and challenges, and that our time together is for you to tell yours. Note: I don't work with insurance companies; only out of pocket.

I specialize in disordered eating, body-focused concerns, anxiety disorders, complex trauma, and identity exploration (i.e. gender, sexuality, etc). I work from a trauma-informed lens, with a holistic and person-centered approach. I aim to create an affirming space that encourages personal reflection, growth, and self-empowerment through curiosity and compassion. I strongly believe that the mind and body work symbiotically, and that when we become more attuned to our bodies, there is much potential for new insight and a deeper connection to our innate Self.

Healing can be hard work. But it doesn't always have to be difficult, and you certainly don't have to do it alone. Together, we can help you find relief, self-compassion, and increase your quality of life. And maybe even laugh a bit along the way. As a mixed-race therapist, with White (Italian & Irish) and Indigenous (Mi'kmaq) ancestors, I know how hard it can be to find time for self growth and care while living in oppressive systems. It can be even harder when we don't fit in a binary or see ourselves reflected in the spaces we live, work, or learn.

I am drawn to work with adults healing from abuse, trauma, and systemic oppression. I also enjoy supporting couples navigate relationship conflict, attachment wounds, and exploring their relationship scripts. As a queer, biracial (Black/white), DVSA survivor, I’m passionate about providing a space for QTBIPOC individuals and survivors of sexual and relationship violence. I’m particularly interested in finding healing outside of carceral systems. I can hold your stories, your fear, your pain - you are not too much.

You may feel isolated or overwhelmed by close relationships. Despite your efforts, you may feel like you're stuck in cycles that feel intractable. Relationship therapy can help you and the people you love to improve communication, deepen understanding, reprioritize joy/pleasure and promote hope. Therapy can help you to heal. Whether you are experiencing exasperation, grief, disillusionment, boredom, loneliness or something else, we can work to foster flexibility, empathy, vulnerability and resilience. I’d love to learn more about you and your loved ones, and see if we feel like a good initial fit for therapy.

In a world that encourages the creation of a chaotically tough exterior, I want to work with you to find your strength in peace and softness. Being vulnerable is often very scary, but bravery is defined by facing your fears, not by the absence of them. It is my goal to provide a space where you feel safe enough to tap into your own power and help you cultivate the assertiveness needed to create a life of your design, something we all deserve but rarely give ourselves permission to have.

Currently accepting new clients. My ideal client was raised with a slightly "messed up" childhood, which they laugh about but say they are "over it". But, they may be having some concerns in their current relationship dynamics. Or perhaps there's people pleasing behaviors or chronic overachievers. They may be asking themselves- why is this a pattern for me? This curiosity can lead to powerful transformations, less stress, and healthier boundaries.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
