As a clinical social worker, I have helped individuals with a wide range of concerns from depression and anxiety to learning how to navigate family and partner relationships.
Hi. If you’re on this page, you’re likely considering whether or not to try therapy (you should). Or, maybe you’re shopping for the right fit. Congrats on taking that first step. Whether it’s me or someone else, I honor that commitment. I have been in the Mental Health field as a social worker for almost a decade. I have seen countless people suffering and many times, doing so alone. I continue to do my part to change that.

I have extensive experience working with individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, and have assisted my clients with processing and healing from traumatic events.
Taking the initiative to begin therapy is not always easy, but my experiences with my clients have demonstrated that the process of healing is a truly humbling and powerful experience. I value the process of building a therapeutic alliance and relationship with my clients, as it is the basic foundation for our work. I use an interdisciplinary approach to help you build on your individual and unique strengths, and will then implement theoretical approaches that best fit your needs.

I also completed training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for treating Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma at the Center for Practice Innovation.
I provide a supportive, holistic, responsive, warm space and help you develop new coping skills, awareness, self-discovery, growth, and healing. I believe in an individual and integrative approach and go beyond talk therapy; the tools and techniques will differ depending on your needs. Together, we will create a new vision of who you want to be and what you want to accomplish in your journey, discover your true potential, as well as to create opportunities, and achieve your goals. I often use the Positive Psychology field of theory and research, focusing on both individual and social well-being versus the stigma of diagnosis.

My work has focused on issues related to depression and anxiety, work and school stress, as well as relationship difficulties including break-ups, alternative relationship styles, and sexual concerns.
I work with my clients using evidence-based, solution-oriented therapy. We will work on your goals to help you gain skills and tools in order to become your own therapist. You will identify your beliefs and challenge yourself to examine if they are no longer working for you. I believe it is necessary to identify how we think and feel about life stresses and situations in order to learn how to restructure our beliefs and adjust them into our changing contexts. The goal is to learn to become more forgiving of yourself, others, and the world around you.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
