In addition to conducting psychological evaluations, I specialize in providing individual psychotherapy to adults, college students, adolescents, and children. Some of the issues I work with include depression, anxiety, life changes, mood disorders, and relationship problems. I am an ally to the LGBTQ+ population and treat clients from all walks of life.

My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for children and adults, in order for them to process individual difficulties, devise a plan of action, and facilitate emotional health and well-being. My client base includes those experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, sexual and physical abuse, parenting difficulties, relationship issues, and family discord. I view myself as a coach to help identify strengths, determine what might be hindering progress, and pave the way for moving forward.

I have worked more than 30 years with people struggling with some type of mental health symptoms and/or substance related disorders. My own therapy experiences have led me to know there are no limits to the hope available to us all; to overcome adversity, to build resiliency, and to move towards health. I believe that we all long for health and connection. I've experienced and witnessed the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity, to expand self-awareness and self acceptance, and to initiate and achieve astounding and lasting change in their lives.

I have worked with children and families for over 20 years. I consider it a privilege to work alongside families, helping them utilize their strengths. I work with clients ages 12 and up, and have experience counseling those with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, addiction and substance abuse, and personality and bipolar disorders. I am passionate about helping people work through the variety of issues that keep them from thriving in life. I have received training in how trauma affects the body and Polyvagal Theory. Additionally, I have completed levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Gottman Marriage Counseling Method; Gottman Professional Training: "Treating Affairs and Trauma", directly from John and Julie Gottman; and "Couples and Addiction Recovery".

I graduated from the University of Michigan in 1983. Since that time, my focus has been on helping individuals, couples and groups ascertain and realize their goals. Using a direct approach,my clients appreciate the stability and consistency I provide to their overall progress and definitive improvement in their lives. I believe therapy is certainly a process for overcoming obstacles and making sense of one's history. It is also a vehicle to explore and decide what is you really want if life.

This means I have a lot of flexibility in meeting with you in a setting that offers the most comfort and convenience for you. This could be a local park, a favorite walking trail, your home, etc.

I like to refer to the journey as a river. Life can be smooth at times and calm and peaceful, but at other times you may feel like you are on a whitewater rapid. It is in those times, when you may feel like you are losing control that it is helpful to have someone help you navigate the waters.
