Happily accepting NEW clients with immediate openings! What happened to you is not your fault and no trauma is insignificant, whether that be in childhood or adulthood. I recognize this is not an easy process and commit to meeting you where you are. I am well-versed in addressing the unique challenges that individuals with complex trauma face from interpersonal violence, narcissistic abuse, and childhood trauma including symptoms of complex PTSD (C-PTSD), anxiety, and depression. Together, we will identify tools to work towards building resilience, ultimately promoting improved well-being.

My integrative style of therapy focuses on interpersonal, insight-oriented, and CBT/DBT approaches.
It takes courage to recognize when you need help. I am here to help you take the steps necessary to live a more fulfilling life - one that is true to your authentic self - by creating a judgment-free environment that is supportive and welcoming to all walks of life. Our mental health affects not only how we feel, but also how we think and act. There is a deeper connection between mental and physical health and, together, we can explore how this connection impacts you. Through gaining this greater understanding of oneself, our overall well-being is improved and we are better able to develop and maintain meaningful relationships.

Clients working with me can trust I will provide a safe & nonjudgmental environment to spend time with themselves, explore & resolve interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts, to learn self-validation, grounding techniques, problem-solving tools & other healthy coping skills to overcome traumatic triggers to create healthier behaviors in the here and now.
So many times we pre-judge situations based on past traumas or conditioning. Entering an intimate space with yourself is no easy task. But with the help of someone you trust, it makes the journey easier to embrace. It is my belief that my job as a therapist is to help my clients connect the dots within their lives in order to enhance their overall mental health. This is done by unpacking, exploring and examining roadblocks from our past that are preventing us from being present in the here & now. This type of awareness helps to foster continual growth & grants access to understanding the story behind our behaviors.

Additionally, my areas of focus include working with those who are experiencing relationship issues, grief and loss, and family conflict as well as emotional, interpersonal, academic, and culturally-related distress.
Life is often unpredictable and can demand a level of fluidity that can be hard to navigate. In moments of change, difficulty, or hardship, we might find ourselves feeling uncertain and unsure of what to think, how to feel, attend to what we may need, or how to continue caring for ourselves. During these moments we may be seeking comfort, a new perspective, or a desire to be truly seen and understood. As your therapist, l will strive to understand your unique experiences - who you are based on what you have lived through, your view of self, and how you have been impacted by culture, society, and those around you.

My goal is to help clients feel less alone in their struggles and more understood, as they work on what they wish to change in their lives and relationships. I believe that what has happened in our past shapes who we are today, and I help the people I work with explore the influence of the past in order to create a more fulfilling present. Within the therapeutic relationship, clients can practice and integrate more balanced ways to express themselves and connect with others. I integrate ideas and practices from relational psychodynamic, interpersonal, and modern psychoanalytic orientations.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
