As a private practitioner, my clients range in age from 17-65 and bring to counseling a diverse set of issues ranging from human sexuality, abuse, drug use, mood disorders (e.g. Anxiety & Depression), serious mental illness and family, parenting and marriage issues. My calling is to serve children and adults who deal with a variety of emotional and behavioral imbalances due to psychological trauma or other stressors. As a trauma and DBT-certified therapist, I work with my clients toward the restoration of their emotional wellness by integrating aspects of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapies (DBT), as well as ART therapy, play therapy, and mind-body practices. My approach to counseling is a collaborative effort between my client and myself to work towards goals that align with the client's values, beliefs and aspirations. I utilize mindfulness based cognitive therapy to help my clients set specific and achievable goals while teaching techniques and coping mechanisms to relieve the client's current symptoms. I provide counseling from a multicultural lens based in my experience as a biracial woman with an immigrant parent.
