I incorporate psychodynamic, relational, cognitive-behavioral, and humanistic orientations into an integrative approach tailored to meet your individual needs.
When clients first reach out to me, they often feel depressed, anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed but are unsure about what steps to take to feel better. Clients also reach out because they want to further their understanding of their emotional experience or need help navigating challenging situations or relationships. And then there are others who feel stuck and seek to change patterns in their lives.

I am accepting new clients at the moment via secure app. Sending that first message can be hard, but is also so empowering. I'll be excited to work with you towards your goals. Anywhere you are in your life. Therapy changes lives. My approach is integrative, humanistic, short, strategic with focus on Transactional Analysis. The ultimate goal of TA is Autonomy (freedom from a childhood script) that is achieved when 3 skills are released or recovered: Awareness, Spontaneity, and Intimacy. Cure as an ideal rather than merely making progress and learning new choices. We share a contract of change. Therapy has a beginning and an end.

I have a holistic, humanistic approach to therapy, and specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, consensual non-monogamy/polyamory and nontraditional relationships.
I work with adults at many stages of life and serve a diverse population, with a particular focus on the experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals. I’ve also worked with groups and individuals as an addiction counselor, focusing on the emotional processing necessary to address trauma and overcome addictive habits and behaviors. At the core of my practice is the belief that in knowing ourselves, we can show up more authentically with others. Whether your concerns revolve around relationships, sexual identity and gender expression, work-life, anxiety, or depression, I will help you find what you need to navigate your next right steps.

I will meet you with compassion and empathy, while also guiding you towards self-exploration and increased awareness. I believe that we navigate life and view the world through a lens influenced by our society and culture. I will support you in your process of becoming more of the person you want to be and help you commit to actions that align with your desired goals.

My experience and training in humanistic, psychodynamic, and mindfulness psychotherapy will guide us in working toward your goals.
All of us need help from time to time to develop new ways of living fuller, richer lives. My focus is on improving how you perceive and navigate life's challenges, transitions, and relationships. Our work together can help you to develop new skills to create the life you want; to enhance your relationships, friendships, or worklife; and to move you toward greater abundance, mindfulness, and depth. My additional expertise in neuropsychology means that our work will integrate psychotherapy and current neuroscience -- 'psychotherapy with the brain in mind' -- a powerfully effective combination.

As a therapist, I integrate cognitive-behavioral and humanistic theories, which I find effective in building meaningful therapeutic relationships while simultaneously challenging and restructuring thoughts and modifying relevant behaviors. My personal and professional experiences living in different parts of the world have increased my sensitivity to the differences in how individuals from different cultural backgrounds experience mental health concerns and seek treatment. As such, I am passionate about making mental health resources accessible to a wide range of communities, and strive to provide culturally sensitive treatments.

My approach to therapy is integrative although I frequently use cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and humanistic approaches.
I specialize in "overthinking" and am currently accepting new clients. In addition to my clinical training I have an extensive research background in anxiety, depression, relationships, overthinking, and eating disorders. I earned my Ph.D from Penn State and M.A. from Boston College. My approach to therapy is strength-based and results oriented. I adapt the work I do in psychotherapy to each individual client as I've found that each person benefits from an individualized treatment plan and a psychologist who is knowledgeable and experienced in a range of effective treatments.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
