Making the decision to attend therapy is difficult for most people. Regardless of what you are struggling with, the decision to ask for help is often very challenging. In reality, this choice is life changing. Life no longer has to be filled with depression, anxiety, traumatic memories, emotional numbing with substances, or coping skills that just seem like they are not working. Sometimes, we just need someone to listen. Collaboratively, we can strengthen your natural skills while implementing new ones. We can overcome the barriers that block you from having the motivation and energy to reach your personal goals.

I had the desire placed in my heart very early on to help those struggling and unable to experience life at its best. I believe that no matter what it is that you are facing, with proper support it is not too big to be dealt with. Although you may feel alone in your situation, there is always hope and healing waiting for you if you just reach out.

You’re exhausted. You work hard to keep the people in your life happy, but you can’t help but feel unfulfilled, overwhelmed and unappreciated yourself. So, you try harder and give more, but it doesn’t feel like you’ll ever be enough. You keep up the façade that everything’s okay, but beneath the surface, you feel stuck in a prison of chronic guilt, worry and self-criticism. The constant swallowing of your own truth for others’ approval has left you empty. And the truth is, its lonely in there where no one sees the real you.

It's exhausting to feel overwhelmed! Some days it feels like one more thing will push you over the edge. While you know that the constant state of stress is not healthy, you don't know what other options you have with everything that's on your plate. It could be from the stress of parenting, being a caregiver for a loved one, or just a life that feels unmanageable. It often feels impossible to appreciate or enjoy what you have because you are stuck with too much to handle on any given day. You know there's another way, but you haven't been able to consistently get there. You are frustrated and tired of feeling this way.

When your Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is perpetually alerted to be in a survival state (due to various life stressors) you might notice symptoms such as chronic fatigue, adrenal deficiency, perpetual irritability, trouble with sleeping, digestive issues, various mental health challenges and the list goes on. Holistic approaches to wellness that incorporate body-brain based therapy models get at the root of these issues and begin turning down the dial on your ANS so that you can live a longer, healthier life.

You started a business because you love what you do. Now, it feels like it’s the one running you. The laptop time that bleeds into family time. The fear of failure. The push & pull between pushing to reach your goals and taking the time to enjoy the life you’re creating. The isolation, imposter syndrome, and identity questions. Every week feels like a rollercoaster of emotion. The work-life balance that you thought would come so easily actually feels more difficult than ever—you miss the ability to take a vacation or simply turn “off.” You know something need to change, you just aren't sure what, or how.

Imagine how it would feel to be the best version of yourself. To enter motherhood feeling confident, happy, and calm. Together we will get you there.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
